Hello everyone
I am just a little curious and would really appreciate any answers.
How much would a Head of Department Secondary School teacher of a med size eg pupils 600 pupils school earn ( in NI).
She has 18 years teaching experience and has been HOD for over 13 years.
Many thanks in advance. :T

Too much, almost certainly.0

Thanks for that link Art, but it doesn't really help as I don't understand where she would be on that scale.
I suppose it would be the Leadership scale bur it starts at £35k and finishes at £100k !!!!!!!
They definitely seem to be well paid!
and No I could NEVER ask how much she earns as she would never discuss such issues with me!
If anyone knows what a teacher in this position would earn (as accurately as possible) I would be very grateful.
I know I am nosy but I am really interested in finding out and have a genuine reason to do so..
Many thanks :A

It depends on what promotional points she has, i.e. if she has a Masters Degree she will get more. I would say at least £40k p.a.0

Add on 10%, just in case their latest demand is met.0

I'd say around hte £40K mark too, possibly a few thou. more.
I know HOA same size school, same years of teaching exp. been HOD and 5 yrs ago she was earning £36. Before her masters.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
As far as I know, teachers with a Masters don't get extra money. Think they used to but it was stoppped some time ago. I have a Masters and I am a teacher but no extra money for me!0

Catnia,
I could be wrong as I am not a teacher, but know a lot of them, but I thought a Masters got you a promotional point? Check it out as my friend didn't realise that she was on the wrong payscale for 3 years and got it all back dated.0 -
Why on earth do you want to know?0

A teacher with that much experience would be on UPS 3 at 35000 and a Head of Science has probably got management allowance 2 at about 3000 a year.0
