You'd think the P.O. would be the place to go wouldn't you? But not round our way! The queue at our sub-P.O. this morning was moving at the pace of a limping snail! Seemed like an elderly gentleman couldn't decide if his parcel was destined for Newport Pagnall or Newport Rhode Island!
So, tried the sweet counter. "Only 1st class I'm afraid sir!"
So, out of there and round the corner to Tesco Express...
"How many would you like sir, 1st and 2nd. Visa, that'll do nicely. Have you got your Clubcard?"
Is it any wonder that local P.Os. are closing down and Tesco is taking over the world? Don't anyone ask for my views on protecting local shops!0 -

I have to confess that I didn't bother to check in IE. As a matter of course I surf for pleasure using Firefox, and only use IE when forced (when developing Websites for clients).
It's probably something that I should have thought of initiailly, instead of presuming that a company with the huge resources of the Royal Mail would bother to get it right for all users!
Well at I least I now know that it wasn't deliberate: just very lax. My clients would be calling me at midnight in a panic, expecting an immediate fix, (and they'd probably get it!), if I let such a thing pass.
Oh, they didn't bother to reply, BTW.

We get through an awful lot of stamps in our household, so the advice here is much appreciated!
When visiting the Royal Mail website today to download their new price list, I noticed that it's possible to buy stamps from them online. You have to open an account with them (easy and quick to do), and I've just ordered 1st and 2nd class at the current price to beat the increase.
Drawback is that you have to order a minimum of 100 of any denomination.
Advantages are that there are no queues, and you can pay with your credit card (unlike at the Post Office).0 -
Hi
I just got a new supply of stamps at 80% of pre-rise price online at discountstamps@gmail.com. I always get mine here as I use loads for ebay etc, they are quick and reliable.

Has anyone here ever tried a franking machine?? (Probably more suited to eBay sellers and people that send a lot of postage)
Pitney Bowes (http://www.pitneybowes.co.uk/SmallBusinessSolutions/index.htm) are offering a free 30 day trial on their franking machines and when you take up the offer you get a free Logo worth £45 (probably not worth that much but it's a freebie so who cares...) and more importantly, £20 worth of free postage!!!
As far as I can see there isn't any tie-ins or catches and it says in the FAQ's:-
"PersonalPost™ 30 Day Trial Guarantee!
If you are not completely satisfied, simply let us know within the trial period. We’ll pick the equipment up at our cost, terminate the agreement and refund any additional unused postage."
So as far as I can see, it should be a totally free trial!! Has anyone else tried this as I'm tempted but want to know 100% that it is totally risk free - I ummed and aaahed too much and missed this offer last time it came round!0
