  • I take part in a postal survey and receive 1st class stamps from time to time as a reward. I've got hundreds at the moment. Is it possible to cash them in? And if it is, would I be entitled to more money if I left it until after the 3rd April??
  • any idea where I can find a Costco ? I live in Ashford, Middlesex..

  • the cheapest way of buying stamps that i know is on ebay , there are many sellers selling unfranked 'used' stamps without glue . they often sell at around a 20-40 % discount . all you need is some glue . ebay is awash with them . typically 2nd class stamps are even cheaper . as a for instance i got 40 x £1 stamps unglued for £33 the other day . the only downside is the OCCASIONAL stamp may have a small franking mark on . i only purchase from sellers with a high feedback and have always been very satisfied . if you can put up with glueing your stamps on this is a first class moneysaving opportunity (pardon the pun)
if i had known then what i know now

Stamps are cancelled electronically at many sorting offices and not franked so you may be buying used stamps. You can't tell by looking at them but maybe some of the people you send to have been asked to pay postage by their postman.

  • I have been doing this for a couple of years & to date have had no neg comments from the recipients . though what you say may be true ,i buy off ebay of high repute who often guarantee stamps as unfranked . thanks for comments though .

Could it be considered as fraud to be reusing such stamps?

The new pricing structure comes in to effect on 21st August 2006 and takes in to account the size of a package as well as the weight. The Royal Mail has produced a free size guide that they will send to you. Just fill in your details at their site and order your size guide.

After filling my details, the opt in for spam emails was automatically selected, but could not be deselected. I did not thought that the Royal Mail would need to do something silly like that. Hope no one has x@x.x as their email.
  • I dont think so , even if it was i struggle to imagine how the stamp police would catch me.

I found this too: although two radio buttons were provided to choose whether or not to receive e-mail updates, only the 'Yes' button was selectable. Extremely annoying, and almost unbelievable from the Royal Mail.

I've posted a note to them (using a genuine address). It will be interesting to see if they reply.
