I think its at the schools discretion. Throw in a bit of culture to help the arguement

legally you can take them out of school for 10 days but it has to be authroised , and yes the culture thingy works but be prepared for some work on it and photos.to keep the teachers happy.

£800 for 2 for a week in spain certainly sounds "do able" even in school hols
you will need to shop around and book yourself instead of going through an agent, thats the way weve always holidayed in spain and can save a fair bit

    have a look for apartments here : https://www.holidaylettings.co.uk https://www.ownersdirect.co.uk https://www.daltonsholidays.com

then for flights keep checking the budget airlines prices, sign up to their email alerts etc and if you are prepared to be flexible / travel at night etc you may make a saving
    Hi Rachie & all
Agree with shopping around and DIYing, but do you all realise that you are on your own if anything goes wrong with Flights /Accomadation.
Dont bypass agents,The Big 4 will offer you their products, but an Independant can do your DIYing for you, using the cheapflights etc,and usually at no extra cost to yourselves,(commission payable by suppliers),
You WONT get it cheaper from those suppliers.Always use an independant that has an ATOL and a TRUST ,they also use only fully bonded and insured suppliers themselves.
Saves a lot of time and hassle.
    Sorry to go on.
    Happy Hols.

What happened to the travel companies supposedly having to reduce the price of holidays outside term time.... I thought they were supposed to be doing this from this year but so far everything I have looked at for my daughter and grandkids is 2 or 3 times the price that we could get it for in term time.... ?????
Even a caravan holiday in England is £700 for a week , used to be cheap enough for her to just about afford a week but its flaming rediculous price now...
