Say, Southern Spain one bedroomed appartment in May half term week that is from 27/5 to 3/6 for one week.
Preferably in a 'child free zone' but that's probably asking for too much!

One thing you can try is that some school holidays in Wales are not the same dates as England so if you look at the departures from Cardiff you may find them cheaper. Or vice -versa if you live in Wales.

£800 for 2 for a week in spain certainly sounds "do able" even in school hols
you will need to shop around and book yourself instead of going through an agent, thats the way weve always holidayed in spain and can save a fair bit

    have a look for apartments here : https://www.holidaylettings.co.uk https://www.ownersdirect.co.uk https://www.daltonsholidays.com

then for flights keep checking the budget airlines prices, sign up to their email alerts etc and if you are prepared to be flexible / travel at night etc you may make a saving

Sorry, missed the word 'check' out - whoops, no wonder the education system is going down the pan!

Looking good - just checked out those sites you recommended. It's so much easier when you know where to look! Thanks again.

Sydney were the same as here (misses is a teacher) the only thing I have spotted is during the long summer holliday prices start to drop off towards the end, so going as late as poss is better than say August the 1st also destinations are not as busy, apart from that IT JUST AINT HAPPENING MATE.
