Does anyone have any tips for getting the inside of a thermos flask clean please?
I usually fill it up with hot water and a squirt of washing up liquid and leave it for an hour or so then rinse, but ive just noticed that its got loads of brown stuff in it...yuck...coffee residue stuck to the inside.
the logical thing is a bottle brush but i dont have one!
Can i get it clean or do i need a new one?
thanks.

You could try with bicarbonate of soda and leave to soak. Whatever you do don't put anything other than liquid in it - I recently broke one by putting a teaspoon in to scrape some yoghurt out. The glass exploded:eek:.0

Thanks.
i also have done the teaspoon thing and had one explode many moons ago!#440 sealed pot challenge0 -
washing up liquid in Cold water with some uncooked rice. Soak then shake the flask with the lid on the rice should act like a scouring pad and dislodge the dirt.
Do not use hot water or the rice might cook!0 -
try a bit of bio wash powder and warm water, leave to soak overnight then rinse loads and loadsmustn't grumble :cool:0

I'll second the rice - also good for narrow vases0

It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
Hi,
I always use wilkinsons own milton solution , last bottle i bought was about 80p for large bottle, i also use this to do cups and t spoons, but just dilute a small amount in 1 cup and then tip fron one cup to the next and stand the t spoons in 1 cup :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Sealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance:0 -
I always put a drop of bleach into boiling water and leave for a few hours0

I've always put a drop or two of bleach in, add some hot water & left for a few minutes. Rinse it well & it should come up sparkling. I regularly do my DH's stainless steel thermos this way as he only takes black coffee to work (he does nights) HTH0

Thanks for all the suggestions, i did try the bicarb but it didnt shift it, maybe i should have left it overnight. will try the rice idea next and see how that goes.
Cold water and rice in a rabbit water bottle that has gone green does the same thing BTW.
Just realised i am having a bad spelling day after noticing i put flash instead of flask in the title...plonker lol#440 sealed pot challenge0
