  • Thought I might come out of the shadows and do a quick update on my progress (and otherwise).

Well done to everyone who has succeeded or made progress in this challenge.

I haven't got a 100% record but at least I can report more positives than negatives:
No books or magazines bought - the real challenge with this will be next month when I have 3 business trips to London and the station bookstores are just so tempting......
No cosmetics or perfume - even managed to go to the chemist for some shower gel and not be side tracked (can't say I wasn't tempted)
However I fell down a little on the clothes challenge - not completely as I didn't actually spend any cash but broke the challenge in spirit. I had a sort out of clothes and found some unworn M&S garments still in the timescale for refunds so took them back. Unfortunately I did fall for a suit and blouse which I had tried on when at full price and as they were now in the sale and available in my size I just couldn't resist. So the refund was smaller than it should have been.
Must try harder to resist temptation in future.
Keeping away from the sources of temptation is the best solution for me but not always possible - which reminds me I must turn off the Amazon promotional emails - their targeting is far too accurate!!

Thats good FoS, you didn't spend anymore money, and you swapped some things you were'nt gonna wear for things that you will, so I don't think that's a failure at all! :)

  • Have used up a Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish 200ml today, and a 15ml L'Occitane hand cream.... still have 6 more to use, and two of them are honey and lemon flavour.... and they smell disgusting! :(

Well done everyone, I'm not around much but loving this challenge!!
Was soo tempted by the Leighton Denny TSV yesterday on QVC (especially looking at my poor tired nails) but managed to resist as still have half the contents for the last one unopened!
Also managed to survive first big supermarket shop of the challenge - I automatically found myself looking at all the creams and shampoos but managed to resist - this time.....

    Keep up the good intentions!!!

Replacing old habits with new is the key.

I think you have hit the nail on the head with that:j It's all about new habits and a new way of thinking.

Great to see evertone doing so well.

Welcome ellerose. You are now on the list:D

I'm planning an NSD today. It's pouring outside and I have a man coming to fix my tumble drier. Not very MSE I know but I can't cope with the huuuuge amounts of washing. Oh well at least I'll get to use up more of my laundry stockpile:rotfl:

Thank goodness its not just me then! I finished a box of washing powder this morning, so went into the cupboard, only to find a half used box of tablets, another half used 950g box of powder and two of the biggest sized washing powder boxes.... as well as 3 bottles of W/U liquid and two surface sprays... I think my addiction is 'products' in general :o:o:o

On a positive note, I have opened my last C&P this morning and did a mini stocktake... I have two Skin tonics, one skin repair and one exfoliator in the cupboard, as well as one of each on the go. By my reckoning, I will only need to buy one C&P before the end of the rest of the products.... maybe two at a push.
OH is ploughing nicely through his shower gels and hair gel, and the cupboard is looking much tidier..... I might even be able to get everything into one basket soon! :D
