well, I've had a very MSE experience.
And one that I couldn't believe I volunteered for as it made me go through one of my fears as I couldn't let them down.
I passed on a message this morning to say a model couldn't come for a facial (I work in adult learning for those who don't know) and heard myself say 'I finish at 1 if you are stuck for a model?'
I have a big fear of anything beauty treatment related other than hairdressing, I've only ever had 1 facial, 1 manicure and 1 eyebrow wax. Part of me just isn't bothered about beauty stuff (I'm a soap and water girl ) but I have this awful fear of knowing I'll have to take my top off  _pale_ and as I waited outside the room at 1pm I suddenly thought - !!!!!!. Do you take off your top for a facial?
And - there are 6 other models here as well for the other beds
I did indeed have to take my top off - in my brain was a mixture of  and lots of.
I didn't really know what was going to happen but I ended up having
mini facial
deep cleanse
eyebrow shape (:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:)
skin inspected through a hot light thingy
hot towels
10 minute face and top of shoulder massage
face mask
I felt very guilty to start with at being there and not being at home working, my mind was going - need to be teaching planning, need to be doing the washing up, need to be AQA'ing, need to be seeing if I'm looking after Charlie, I need to be looking at my money.........and then I heard myself think - it's and hour and a half out of your life - why shouldn't you just have a bit of something nice??
Went to the tutor to pay - half way through I thought ooooooooooooh, dear, how much will this be - I only have £10 on me - and she said you work here - you don't have to pay - have it on the house:D Looks like it would have been £10 seeing the other money on the desk, which is cheap, but free is even better :j
Apparently I have beautiful skinShows what soap and water does, none of this fancy pants hydroproxins, elastane pentapeptydes for me :rotfl:
Anyway, I've been advised to use something like Simple foaming face wash (a step up from soap!) and I seem to have agreed to have an eyebrow tint this time next week  If I come to Leeds orange, you know i've been sucked into the cult of the beauty therapist :rotfl:"Stay Wonky":D

Soap and water girl meselt to be honest BB, but I think its in the genes... I have stopped and use the foaming wash now and it is good. You don't get that 'tight' feeling either. And I love my protect and perfect moisturising serum...
well done on being brave....Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

well, my Mum has good skin and she's never bothered with anything either, so it probably is genetic. I love the shape of my eyebrows - really cool. She measured and everything!! They aren't thin, they are what I would call that 'classic' eyebrow shape.
Perhaps I'll treat myself to some of this Simple foaming face stuff when I'm next in the supermarket.
It was sooooooooooo quiet, a couple of times Ithought - have all the other models and learners crept out and left me here?! The music was very relaxing.
Maybe I should do something beauty related for 'me', dunno. It's always been at the bottom of the list - even when I was getting into the big debt years ago it was never something I thought about.
I even found myself looking at the poster for having a manicure done by a learner. They are in when I'm working though which is a shame as it's only £2.50."Stay Wonky":D

oooooh BB! sounds perfect, what a brill way to spend an hour and a half! i love it!
pics please of your eyebrooos!
i'm a facewash kinda person too, and moisturise every other day... tried tinted moisturiser as a grown up step up from bare faced but it wasn't for me... brought me out in spots.....
well done you for treating yourself, even better that it was free.... and from one who first waxed her eyebrows last year, there's no going back now... they'll need maintaining!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Oh and Simple face stuff is nice, especially if you're not keen on anything too 'fancy' - treat yourselfDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
here we go - freaky eye moment! :rotfl: It flippin' stung!
it looks like one side is much higher than the other - it isn't though - just the way I was holding the camera
the lady who did it was very, very good - she was excellent at the 'etiquette' kind of stuff, holding towels, asking me to use her arm to raise myself when she wanted to adjust the couch, moving towels etc. She was older than me and i'm guessing she has been working for years and needs to get the official qualifications.
To add to it, as I finished and she sat me up fully - there was one of my colleagues in the room talking to the tutor about something, there's me, top off, bra straps down covered with a towel, hair all over the place :rotfl:"Stay Wonky":D
