Hi BB, I've just come across this thread and wanted to say well done for recognising that you're getting back into debt and doing something about it before it's too late. I'm in a similar position - since getting DF last year I've been making a huge effort to build up some savings, but in recent months this has led me to dipping into my OD facility for little extras that I don't have enough for at the end of the month. I've only ramped up about £550, but like you don't want to dip into my savings to clear it, so have made the conscious decision to knock the savings on the head until it's paid off.

I do agree with what you said a couple of posts back about being kind to yourself though, maybe you could set yourself certain hours for AQA and stick to them, and set yourself time off and stick to it.

Tete - I know where you are coming from - I wish I'd done this 3 or 4 months ago when alarm bells started to ring.

Jinks - to be honest, I feel I'm quite lazy really, I often think I should be doing more really. I feel guilty if I do something like read a magazine for 15 minutes or something like that.

    Hypno - ta :D

Well, I think I came up with a cunning plan today :D

For those who don't know, after re-training, I now teach adults and am part way through my qualification. The next stage (CTLLS) is due to start next Monday. If I weren't already teaching for this organisation, the cost for the 30 weeks would be around £300. I can have it instantly reduced to £101 for registration and the exam fee through a staff development pot of money.

However, it's only just been finalised and other than put it on the CC or dip into my savings, I just don't have £101 between now and Monday. However.......we have a discretionary funds budget for learners on low income (it also covers bus far, books, childcare, whatever is needed really)........and I qualify to have the other £101 paid because I earn under £12k :D.

It was a bit of a pride swallowing moment to ask for the form but the guy who sorts/approves it said that loads of part time staff where I work do our courses that way so I felt better about it :o

So, I'll fill all that in tomorrow and he said he will be able to look at it the same day and it should mean I'll have it all paid for and sorted.

So being a pauper does help sometimes

it's weird Jinks, but that's how I feel, I never sit watching TV during the day when I'm here - ever - even at the weekends. I don't sit and read a book with a drink and a biscuit etc. I should be a size 8 for all the whooshing around I do!

Just had an email asking if I'll invigilate an exam on Thursday evening for a couple of hours. Excellent. I'm hoping for lots of invigilating this term to make up for some of the teaching I'm not now doing although because the rate is half I'd need to do loads to equal it, but whatever I am offered is appreciated :D

EDIT: oooh, I said 'yes' to the invigilating and it seems tomorrow night's invigilator has dropped out so would I like that as well? :T
