Been here (north east for about a year) and I have found nothing to do family wise. Everything seems to be over the boarder in England (cheshire) but surely there is somethings here that I dont know about ?! Anyone ?

You didn't say what ages your family are or exactly where you are, but here are some ideas.

Theatr Clwyd, Mold has a small cinema. There are lots of sports clubs throughout the area ( football, rugby, badminton etc) There are ballet classes in Buckley and Holywell, riding schools in Sychdyn and Pontblyddyn.

The Clwydian Range is superb for walking! When my two were primary school age they loved the many castles.

It's a great place to bring kids up. Good luck.

Thanks Pol, we are in Buckley as it goes so will ring the ballet class this week to see if my DD can go. I tried googling clwydian range but it has no address, it seems that they are all over but I need to know how to get there etc, have you personally been there ? :)

Theres a weekly family salsa class in Buckley on thursdays (I think), [email protected] (now Glyndwr University) Wrexham is fabulous. There are tons and tons of country parks... Alyn Waters, Wepre, Ponciau banks to name just a few. Theres Llangollen Steam Railway, Betws y coed isn't far and is a lovely day out.

Erddig in Wrexham, Chirk Castle.... I could go on and on and on. Try contacting the Childrens Information Bureau based at Wrexham library next to the arts centre (which offers free entry). Theres also Minera Lead Mines, Bersham Enterprise Centre, Marford Quarry. Do you get "Kids Direct" via school?

After that theres karate, swiming lessons, tons and tons of horse riding, ice skating at Deeside Leisure Centre.... Llandegla forrest is a great day out, fab for family cycles as there are lots of flat trails suitable for tricycles and more rugged trails for bigger people.

Ruthin Gaol is interesting as is the town of Ruthin and I can recommend Ruthin village tea rooms opposite the post office. Theres also a fantastic leather shop thats very affordably priced with everything made on the premises.

**Clwydian Range is an area of mountainside hence why its all over. Head in that general direction. Park up in one of the many parking spots and enjoy.

The Clwydian Range is the name of the of hills between Flintshire and Ruthin. A good starting point would be The Loggerheads Country Park, which has easy walks itself. There you can buy walk guides for other areas.

I forgot Techniquest in Wrexham! There are also a number of swimming baths, eg Mold and Flint.
