Hello and welcome to the boards, can i suggest that with annual bills you divide the cost and set up a separate savings account and then transfer money by SO or DD each month so that when the bill comes in you're not having to try and fund it from one wage? You may already do this but i know i wouldn't survive a year if i wasn't do it as i'd never be able to afford all those annual bills which sneak up on you.
Good luck with your honeymoon savings, i was married last Sept and the honeymoon was last on our list of priorities. We were lucky that someone helped us as a wedding gift but still opted for a 'cheaper' one
Definately start a spending diary, they make scary reading and may not be easy to do but they make you think twice about all you spend and you soon find where those little extra's have gone to.
Have a good weekend0 -
Hi you sound really motivated and like you are making good progress - just wanted to wish you luck.
for other ideas on raising more funds you might want to try the £10 a day challenge unless you are already part of it?

Right, it's Sat morning and cant really be bothered to do much! I've done my clicks all week so I think I'll take today off
Done my daily scratch, gained 20p thank you clams lol
I haven't joined the Make £10 a day challenge yet, I don't think I'd be able to do it. I don't really spend anything a day so I don't know how I'd be able to make it I keep looking at the board though to see how everyone else is doing
I've tried the spending diary but the problem is my OH can never remember what or how much he's spent! Caused a few arguments as he got annoyed with me nagging. He doesn't seem to spend anything anymore though, and when he does take money out of the account without me knowing, I always ring him and ask what it's for etc so I can note it down on my spreadsheetI let him keep his tips though, that way he isn't touching the money in the bank.
I already have an account set up for annual payments, I have a SO starting end of may (which is when we can first afford to start paying it) That money is just for things like TV License, MOT's, Car Tax, eventually we'll pay car insurance and home insurance from it as well but at the moment it's easier to pay them monthly.
Hope everyone else's weekend goes as planned:idea: Jan 09. Debt @ LBM - £11936.55 Debt at worst - £12600.55 Current Debt (01/03/2012) £8,859.51 29.7% Paid offHoneymoon Fund £410.40/£6000 House Deposit £1.50:A Proud to be dealing with my debts. DFW Nerd 1177 :A0 -
there are lots of free trials you can get paid for joining or newsletters you can sign up to at places like ipoints and quidco and pigsback. they all add up - as long as you cancel in time you are quids in. You can normally even be paid to set up a savings account - I got £20 from Alliance and Leics..... Give it a go.
It does get harder tho once you've done all the initial offers....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Spending diary is a great idea, at least your OH will consider it, mine refuses point blank as he says he's not writing down every penny he spends as "he knows what he spends it on."
Irony is that is actually true - he seems to miss the point that if he's spending money on stuff we don't need to, we need to find out what and why in order to change that. I think if he saw not just the bank statements (which he has got better at checking) but the finer points of where not just the pounds go but the pennies as well, he'd be surprised.
Anyway, sounds like you are doing really well with the DFW quest, keep that momentum going!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63
