The course is sounding great! I think it's a real confidence boost when you get off to a good start, and agree it's deffo an investment. Glad you're liking it!
Sorry the house didn't work out - but 3 x months rent is outrageous! Honestly I think I would have done the same in walking away from that one, shame but still... We had a similar situation before we found this place, we were looking for aaaaaages, this wasn't one we thought would have much potential as wasn't an area we'd picked out as a possible (although not far from the area where OH's mum lives which we had our eye on) but we thought what the hell, why not, nothing to lose...
Deffo good decision, loads of space for a *very* reasonable rent, and the area is fine, schools good, public transport good, 3 corner shops about a minute from the house LOL and the 'precinct' 5 mins up the main road. So my advice is just to keeep looking, scouring Rightmove (that's what we did too), just pick out anything that looks vaguely suitable and be a bit flexible on area if you can. Basically the more you look at anyway in your price range, the more you realise what you can realistically expect to get for your money. Eg I know where we are now, if the LL did this place up, or we had rented somewhere similar, we'd be paying at least another £50 per month.
Oooh I'd order shopping anyway you know, then you don't have to worry either way.Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Hi Jo
It's definite a confidence boost, when I get home I cant stop yapping about what I've been doingI think I'm doing DH's head in really but he seems ok and is glad that I'm enjoying it
We're looking practically everywhere and as close to work as possible, but on the outskirts, if that makes sense. I have lived in the country all my life so living in a city is not something I enjoy which is why I'm looking in all the small villages just outsideI find the places and DH tells me if they are good area's or not
After doing my SOA without the rent in I found we'd be able to afford somewhere up to atleast £550 a month, but of course no money for a deposit at the moment so would be difficult to move at the moment to somewhere of that price, but atleast we know that we can afford something nice
I might order the shopping from now on seeing as I will be at college on my normal shopping night, the last thing anyone want's to do is go shopping on a Friday night!!! Who do you use Jo? If you use Asda are they any good? Ever had any problems? etc:idea: Jan 09. Tesco I have found suits us best. I did try Asda quite a while ago now, a few times, but remember some issue with substitutions and didn't like the page layout as much. And also the Clubcard points are a great bonus!
I also like that you can book a slot the night before for a last-minute slot the next day (obviously if there's still something available - busier days fill up fast but I usually get ours Monday and usually something free) as there used to be a 5pm cut-off the day before with Asda, so no chance of adding last-minute things - although this may have changed now.
Also like the range of times and how the slots vary in price - cheaper ones are £3 then go right up to £6 depending on how popular the day is for deliveries. You can also book up to 3 weeks in advance - which is good if you want to be super-organised!
LOL sound like an advert for Tesco there!:DDealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

A very good advert for Tesco's too
I don't mind Tesco's although I've found a lot of they're stuff wasn't very good, fresh meat for one, I always managed to get it cheaper at Asda and was always better quality
Will have a look at both and if the 5pm order time is still on going for Asda I may have to use Tesco or go do it myself

If I had bought last week's shop from tesco - instead of £66 it would have been £80+. I've learned the hard way (using mysupermarket.com) that the clubcard vouchers aren't worth the extra Tesco put on in the first place! :rotfl: I like it
I have found on mysupermarket that Asda normally beats Tesco and only go to Tesco for very select bits, they do my favourite pasta, farfallini (or something like that) miniature Farfalle
I love it
Although you can't get the TV mag ordered from either of them I doubt lol Will have to see if I can have a quick wander into town tomorrow and buy one, DH needs a few bits and bobs before he goes away next week too so will try and get some of them, I love it when he wears Lynx Fever, but only place I can find it is boots, the Asda I normally use doesn't stock it, the shower gel or spray, might see if I can order from boots actually and see if it get delivered before Monday, doubt it but would save my legs
I'm now looking to get DLA thanks to the threaed you pointed me too SH although unsure wether I will be eligible as 1, I work (although it says it doesn't take that into consideration) and 2, I am 80% of the time mobile enough to get around, it's just at times like this that I 'lose my limbs' so to speak which makes everything very difficult, but it's definitely worth a shot! Jan 09. Re: the DLA, I used to help clients apply for it in my previous job and I'd definitely recommend you go about doing some reading before you apply.
Then if you think you're in with a chance, I'd seek the advice of welfare rights, there should be a local advisor who will be able to meet with you. They can go through the form with you and help you fill it in.
The fact you work isn't necessarily an issue, so I wouldn't let that put you off. I can PM you some info that might be enlightening if you likeDealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Morning Jo & SH
I would love some advice/help on the DLA Jo, that would be fantastic. I think I got about 1/3 of the way through yesterday and my eyes were going blurry so gave up, but was able to save and exit so I can pick up again where I left off
Asda are still doing the cut off I think, so going to have to go shopping with DH tonight, luckily he was home before me last night so he took me to college and picked me up again, legs are starting to come back to me now but still very painful/achey. DH gave me his car again todaySo the drive in wasn't too bad
As DH is working tomorrow he's text his XW and asked her if ok if he picks them up tomorrow as I'm not well enough to look after them during the day, she's said ok so now I can go shopping without worrying about holding them two in one place!! Will consider chair but depends on how bad my legs are, managed to get a few bits and bobs in Boots before I started work so a few bits knocked off the Asda list as they were cheaper in Boots (checked last night on internet
)
Also hoping to go to Makro (Cash & Carry) sometime over the weekend, they got a special offer on screenwash which is always handy when winter hits, bin bags 100 for £4.99But there's a different sort on BOGOF too
Also getting some bubble wrap as decided the little fiddly No7 items I want to sell on ebay are GOING before Christmas!!! Just going to wrap them in bubble wrap, cover them in brown paper and post
Can't wait to get the shelf back on my computer desk
Cant think of much else, doing the normal things today:- Check bank
- Update spreadsheet
- Scratch *10p*
- Get Friday over and done with so can rest on Saturday

I think I need to be as organised with you wth the shopping - you see I'd have always thought Boots to be more expensive generally... Just goes to show what a bit of research shows you!
I'm scooting round at the mo but I'll PM you some bits about the DLA this eveningHave the house to myself for another 15 mins or so so just trying to get loads done, done load of laundry-washing up from breakfast-vacuumed downstairs-cleaned table and high chair-thrown recyclables in blue bin so just popping on here *phew*
