If you got the payg on voda/t-mobile then thats probably why you can't return in. The networks themselves have a no return policy on payg.0

Thanks v much for the links and advice. I will try but may be stuck with loads of photos of the inside of my jacket pocket

I got the PAYG on Orange. I will be switching to T Mobile SIM with mates rates. If it doesn't work properly, I will take it back within the 14 days and take photos of staff at CPW that they might not enjoy
There is an issue that I was also talked out of other Panasonic and Nokia phones and in favour of this one when I reckon they knew full well that the camera design was idiotic. And they would not let me try it out before purchase at that branch. They weren't very busy either, just p**sed off that I had not signed a PAYM. I only went to them as they sell unlocked phones on full warranty and I didn't want to buy a mobile on ebay.
If anyone knows any way (can't imagine how) to lock the keypad or fit something over the camera shutter button, let me know. As far as I know, this is the only SE phone where you don't have a camera lock OR you don't have to switch the menu to camera b4 taking a photo. When I asked about the camera and said was it similar to my old T610 the guys at CPW said yes, so I made certain (wrong) assumptions. Sure, partly my fault for not being totally savvy and assertive with them, but they did also mislead me. They really wanted me to buy a PAYM Motorola. Wonder why?! [Btw do all flipphones not have a keypad lock?]
c'est la vie and it often sucks. Thanks 4 your support.0 -
Perhaps its just bad karma for ripping cpw/orange off by getting the phone at a cheap price and using a different sim card. Lots of people do it, and it doesnt bother me, but its things like that that have brought about compulsory top ups, which brings on unhappy customers.
But anyhow, cpws policy with orange will let you get a refund under 14 days. (minus the top up you had to put on it)0 -
It wasn't a cheap price! You PAYTTN (pay through the nose) for PAYG so it only does suit those of us on low usage.
CPW say exchange only within 14 days, minus the top up. Their phone line says use the top up,then exchange but the phone is white and unless you don't use it at all, it scuffs easily. I really don't understand why I can't change it for another PAYG phone with the same SIM card either which is CPW policy. If I'd bought the phone thru Orange I could.
They confirmed on the phone they do offer the Flext 20 tariff at CPW btw.
I am going to see the manager tomorrow to see what he can sort out.
I wonder why they are so set against the Panasonic VS6 that they sell for a tenner more than this SE. A friend is happy with her one. That is the only one in the same price range I could exchange it for.
Got a great photo of the floor yesterday when opening the phone ;-D0 -

I can't understand this. You went to the shop and you chose to have the phone you've now got. Now you say you dont want it because it scuffs easily. This you could have decided when you bought it.
You blame the staff at CPW for making you have a phone that you now say that you didn't want. It was your choice, you were persuaded because you wanted to be. Sales staff will try and persuade you to have something that may not be entirely suitable for you, but very suitable for them and their revenue streams; that's what sales people tend to do. You knew, with the exception of the camera problem, exactly what you were buying. You could have had the another handset had you wanted to.0 -
It seems we all think we know some consumer law, but for example the Watchdog programme is hardly a good source of this.
The shop has its terms and conditions of sale, and these are different in distance-selling cases. They are well within their rights to believe that they made a sale and not offer to cancel the whole arrangement. I hope you can arrange an exchange that you're happy with.
It seems to me that you'd keep the original SIM with the value on it, or perhaps they can contact dealer support to transfer value to a new SIM - these are purely a guesses/hopes, so don't complain if I'm wrong.0 -
From careful reading of the SE brochure and SE support site, the camera on this phone is *not* meant just to go off but the button is supposed to be pressed once to activate camera mode and then again to shoot. So it's not just a design fault.
If there is anyone out there with a SE Z520i who can confirm that their phone's camera is not so hypersensitive please post? Thank you.0 -

What I ment was if you wanted to put your own sim card in that phone, you should have bought the handset sim free, where the price would be even higher. If a handset is bought on a network and the new sim isnt used, the company (cpw) does not get commission for the sale from the network, and as this happen so often perhaps payg prices are higher than they could be.I really don't understand why I can't change it for another PAYG phone with the same SIM card either which is CPW policy. You can. If you stay with the same network, you can swtich the handset (providing the newhandset is avalible on that network) and you just pay/are refunded the difference. They confirmed on the phone they do offer the Flext 20 tariff at CPW btw.
Of course they do. But if you ask for the £15 flext tarrif, which i think you said in your op, they'd have no idea what you're talking about, as that is just the £20 tarrif being offered at £15 on the tmob website.I wonder why they are so set against the Panasonic VS6
They're not, I think its a great phone. When you get an opinion in a shop its just one or two peoples opinion, not the view of the whole company.
I think i'm gonna have to have a look at a couple of the SE phones and see how it goes.0
