Sky hd box £29 - confused

Options
Hello

I have a SKY + BOX, in lviing room and a basic package of about £18 or £19 a monht I think, and a sky box upstairs broadcasting a few channels (freee sat or something I think)

I also had multi room until a month back which wasa about a tenner - I got rid of this as we found it a bit extravegenbt and often same channel on in two rooms!

I have seen an advert in comet / currys saying SKY HD box available for £29 for existing customers....

poster wasnt clear

can anyone confirm

1 - Am I signing up to a new contract?
2 - How much per month is the hd package?
3 - Minumum months for HD package?

Can I get rid of HD and keep the box as sky plus box, either keeping multi room or getting rid of it and still having a cheap sky + box which means it can be taped.....

Cheers

  • Just looked at this on the curry's website as I want a HD box and 29.00 sounded good. You only get it at this price though if you buy a HD ready TV too. As I already have one I'd rather pay the 49.00. HTH

I think, but not sure that you have to subscribe to the £10 a month for HD channels for a minimum of 12 months to take up this offer. You can cancel the HD then, thats what we did a few years ago when the SKY box was £300 plus 10 a month.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

OK, just had a look at the website and it's very similar to the offer that Tesco are doing at the moment except they are giving the HD box for free if you buy a TV.
You have to either join or stay with Sky (i.e. existing customers have to sign up for another 12 months)
You have to subscribe to the HD mix which is about tenner a month.
Existing customers also have to take out a multiroom subscription which is another tenner.

  • Thanks searcher - thats £20 a month - £240 a yr

Can I take it and after a month cancel and keep the HD box and use it as a skyplus box?

    Thanks

    You're welcome,
As for cancelling after a month you would have to take out 12 month subscription to get the deal
  • for both multi room and SKY hd?

1 - You would be yes,
    2 - + £10 for the HD mix
    3 - 12 months at a guess

In short... SKY HD with cost you an extra £10 per month and you ONLY get your current package in HD when available. For example if you do not subscribe to sport or movies then the extra £10 will NOT get these channels. If you cancel the £10 payment you will no longer receive the HD channels.
  • but crucially will get to keep the HD box. so I think I can sign up and cancel after a month and get the box :)

    Thanks

I'm still not sure that's right.
To get the box you need to agree to a 12 month contract for the HD mix and multiroom so they won't let you cancel after a month

I'm sure you need to keep the contract for 12 months to qualify for the cheap HD Box. Also, if you do not subscribe to SKY you will lose all HD channels free or not and the ability to pause / record.
