Great post! Is the green flashy light applicable to all ATMs? I don't think I'd be able to spot any of the signs as detailed in the websites you've linked to

I can't say all for certain, but most. And it is just a rule of thumb, obviously if you see anything else that's a little bit dodgy don't just assume it's OK because you can see the light.

See, the best thing to do would have been to go into the Tesco branch and speak to someone there. Typically there'd have been someone there who could disable it (especially likely if this is a branch of a bank during business hours).

I did go into Tesco - Seen their Customer Service - they said the ATM was owned and run by RBS - Hence the phone call.

There's rewards of up to £25,000 on offer re ATM Fraud.

I have photo's of ATMs which show signs of being tampered with in my local area. It's a very high percentage. Wish I knew how to put them on this site.

Sorry I can't help with dodgy PIN Entry Devices in Shops - There is NO way to physically spot these that I know of.

Any way you can find a way of getting your images uploaded onto this forum so we can see what the dodgy ATM's look like? Would be interesting.
If you will the end, you must will the means.

It's not on Wincor Nixdorf machines, it is on Diebold machines.

Oh and if the skimming device falls off in your hand drop it and run. Then call the police from somewhere safe.

This happened to a friend of mine and he was threatened by two guys with weapons because he stood their shocked when the device fell into his hands.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

ATM fraud is nothing new, and is nothing to do with Chip & PIN - the fraud has just "recentralized" now that the old methods don't work so well.

Lebanese loops have been around for as long as I can remember, and are still in use.

I heard, from a HR training video (I work in personal protection) that there is also the security feature for ATM's that means if you put your PIN in the wrong way around (say yours is 1234, you type in 4321) that is an alert that means you're in trouble and the machine stalls whilst the police are alerted.

Is this actually factual? I always want to try it but scared i'll get nicked for wasting police time, just wonder why it isn't readily available if indeed it is true and not an urban myth that my employers have taken a step too far....

It would be used if you were being held up or threatened at the ATM etc....
