Typical BT. They bring all the jobs out of the uk and still have the nerve to call themselves British Telecom. LOL.

They need to bring back the jobs to the uk and not make people redundant. If it was'nt for their major stronghold on phone lines, they will have closed down along time ago.
I think you must be on the wrong thread my good sir, this one is about abusing everyone else.

misskool..don't apologize to me for your lack of writing skills..because that's all you have just done..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Apologies to geoffky, I shouldn't have written the post last night so harshly. I did mean what I said but it should have been worded differently.
That's one of the things I like about 'our' board guide - able to reflect on something said and apologise for it.

    Yes... I am a creep.

I also defend Geoffky's right to post as many miserable and pessimistic posts as he wants. They all seem to be on topic, and quite often cover things that I hadn't noticed myself.

She wasn't, she was apologizing for the bottle of vodka she had just drunk.

edit, That is an unfair slur on a respected (and more importantly completely bonkers) forum herder and I withdraw it unreservedly.

I don't have to apologise for anything else :D

you are a selfish pessimistic man (or your persona on MSE suggests so).

YES I SENT THE PM .. and all it was was asking you to edit you posts because being a adult there are consequences for writing defamatory posts about people and i asked you to do that before i went any further.....you are adult and must understand that going so personal can and will have consequences.....end of story..

It's pretty tricky to defame a pseudonym.

As for the original post, it's a non-story. BT employs over 100,000 people, so the job losses are a relatively small part of the total. It's also in a sector which is reasonably well insulated from the recession, these are in fact streamlining job losses which will most likely come from natural wastage.

What has been surprising so far about this recession is that there haven't been far more redundancies.

julieq, it is not a non-story for those being made redundant.

One in eight jobs in less than two years is not natural wastage.

10% of the work force is a non story if the company employs 10 people, if they employ 100 000 then it's a big story, natural wastage or not, those jobs are now not available for someone else to do.

Bt is not reasonably well insulated from the recession at all. They have been losing loads of work.
