I don't think anyone knows the point at which the e-mail was 'hacked', or if it was hacked at all. It might well have been from Derek Drapers PC, as McBride sent it to Draper to use him as an outlet, which would be sort of funny, as Draper denied that Damian McBride had ever had any input into LabourList!

the system is only compromised by the idiot thats sending the email......if he can't click on the right address then he shouldn't be allowed near a PC...seeing as he is part of the Government thats suppose to be running a country....who is wasting time and money sending emails on how to slur the Tories.....just goes to show how what our Government gets upto sometimes.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

You need a competantly designed system, whereby normal unsecure e-mail is done using one system, and secure e-mail is done using another system, with tight control over who can e-mail certain types of information to whom.

    This wouldnt have stopped this.

This is nothing really to do with the security, apart from it came from the number 10 e-mail address. A breach of the conditions of use of number 10 tools.

Two thoughts on the leak and the timing -

    1) NuLabour knows that for Clown to continue as PM until June will ensure the party is unelectable for a generation. By leaking this story as part of the project for ejecting Clown, leadership candidates like Balls and Harperson maybe think that a single term Tory administration is possible.

    2) Did NuLabour expect this to hit the press, but muddled the timing. Just thinking Nulabour could easily have set-up Bob Quick to take the headlines in the hope this scancal was forgotten on page 2?

This kind of underhand management of slurs is partly how they got into power in the first place.

Are you suggesting that, if the Tories do win the next election, at the following election Brown still might be at the helm of Labour? Not a chance in hell in my opinion.

They didn't want the details to be announced, just the contents. What they were hoping for would have had little consequence. A blogger would have made some claims about the Tories, but blogs are rarely headline making. It was just stupid gossip they were trying to circulate, which makes it even funnier, as they have been caught out playing a very underhanded and slimy game for the sake of a blog story which wold have been forgotten by the end of the week.

No, that's clearly not what I said. Balls, Harperson etc. know they need to be shot of Clown as soon as possible to prevent a further 12 months of his disastrous leadership making their party unelectable for a generation.
