WELCOME TO THE '£1000 IN 100 DAYS' CHALLENGE

11th April 2009 - 19th July 2009

It's 100 days, no more and no less.

Link to 2nd challenge
This is challenge 3

NEW CHALLENGE IS HERE - CHALLENGE 4: 20th July - 27th October 2009

The rules are simple - you do not need to make £10 every day, you just aim to save, earn, win or raise an EXTRA £1000 over the period of 100 days. This 100 day period began on 11th April and ends on day 200 of 2009, which will be 19th July.

All income that is not part of your normal, regular income can be counted and gets used to either pay off a debt, buy something special, neutralise your current spending or to increase your savings.

Feel free to join us and compare notes on how we each earn our extras. Last challenge saw some spectacular results! There's matched betting, free bingo, free scratchcards, cashback, vouchers, competitions, decluttering via online auctions & classifieds, car boot sales or you may even decide to work extra overtime, take on a second job, set up a home-based business or even start a cottage-style industry. Whatever you do, have fun finding those extra pennies that make the pounds that make the debts disappear and the rewards much richer! Above all, have a great year debt-busting and saving.

Small print - if in doubt about how this extra income may affect your current employment contract, tax, national insurance or any benefits you may receive etc, please check with the relevant agencies or authorities.

During the first 100 days of 2009, I managed to spend £1,092.38 but only managed to recoup £617.21 of that. My longterm plan is, by following this challenge, is to neutralise all my 'misc' spending in my annual budget and then work from there. The more I can neutralise my spending, the more I have left to save. :)

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

    Hmmmmmmmmm....

Not sure how the previous part of this challenge ended up on the "Diaries" board. Must have been moved by mistake.

I'll move this one back with a redirect, but I'll leave the previous one where it is for now so that people won't be looking on the wrong board for it. ;)

The link at the end of the old thread will still bring people here BTW. :)

Thanks, Fermi. I noticed about a week or 2 ago that the other thread had been moved and didn't think to query it - it did show up with 'Trial' in ther title, if that helps.

  • Thanks for starting the challenge again, Nyk.

I'm totally motivated for this and no excuses this time.

Won £1 on TAB scratchcard, so have a good feeling about this challenge (resolution no. 1 - I will save the money and withdraw, instead of spending it all on other scratchcards!).

    Good luck everyone.

I'm in - I really need to earn some extra cash in order to meet my goal of being debt free by Christmas

    So I am going to:
    • sell stuff on ebay and amazon
    • try and get some more mystery shops
    • try and get some more market research jobs
    • see if I can find some one-off jobs
Good luck to eveyone. Going to see if I can squeeze this into my sig!

Hiya, didn't get a chance to post my total for Jan-April so here it is...

    £1040.01

I'd scraped it just over £800 by raiding 9p from OH pocket (told him he didn't need to be carrying change about!) and then remembered £240 child benefit that I'm squirrelling into a different account, so I made it!!! (Birthday money on Thursday helped too!!)

Bring on the next 100 days! It finishes the day before we go on holiday so the next lot of money will be going towards that!

  • I didn't do the first 100 days really. Work has been a complete disaster in the last few months and although I started off with good intentions but only made about 100 pounds?

I am still here and have managed to keep my spending under control and the debt is going down.

I am starting to learn about matched betting so I am hopeful!!

    good luck everyone xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Hi all,

I'm going to start mine with £30 cash in hand I got for working thursday nite (actually got it at 2am so counts as today) and £2.16 in tips from last night/this morning (tight @rses!) :A

I'm well motivated to do this (atm, probably won't last!!)
I've signed up to some survey sites, anyone know which are likely to payout quickest, preferably in cash?? And how do I do these free scratchcard things?? Free Money = :D

    Good Luck everybody :p

    Hi Nyk
I'm going to try to continue with my money making on ebay. In addition I'll be adding mystery shopping earnings to the total. I start a new job on Tuesday so I won't have as much time as before - and it's not close to many MS localtions. But I think £1000 is do-able. I hope so anyway. I'm going to use the profits to pay off my overdraft.
    Good Luck people.
