Does this shop ever accept genuine returns without you being inerrogated and treating you as if you are robbing them.
Myself and my husband buy tonnes of clothing and shoes from River Island but when a problem arises with any of their products they will do nothing about it and put all blame on customer whatever the problem may be. Is this in their training as all stores are the same.
My husband bought leather shoes 36.99 not a huge amount but after a few times wearing we got caught in a downpour the shoes got wet. These shoes have suede around teh sole and totally soaked up the rain. On returning home the shoes were put in shoe cupboard and when he went to wear them again they had shrunk and shrivelled.
On returning them to the store they told us we must have put them near a fire and would do nothing we insisted they went to head office to be tested as we new we had done nothing. He office sent them back to us saying we must have been at fault. We phoned and spoke to various management and all we got was cheek. They said they did not need to test the shoes as these types of shoes would have been tested at manufature. They would not state if they had more of these shoes returned . Totally frustrating when you know you have done nothing . Needless to say the shoes went in the bin. I stated to them I would make sure I make everyone aware of their appalling customer service.
anyone had similar problems?

If your OH didn't take the proper care of his shoes when they got soaked to ensure they didn't lose shape, it's his fault for not looking after them properly - the shop isn't to blame..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
I agree with Errata.
Also my best friend works for RI and she always comments on how they make money because they have the easiest returns policy ever, she said in her store they don't even ask for a recipt, so long as it has an RI label then they will take it, even seasons old.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
i used to work for RI and you would be suprised how many people you cant trust people bringing back years old clothes, stealing and returning, deliberatly defacing clothes and bringing them back.
and then they look at you like you are crazy when you refuse a refund! and even then some would be given by the manager to avoid hassle
however the shoes were suede probably came with care instructions and how you treat them is your problem why should ri pay for your mistakes? its like people used to bring back jeans which had given after a month or twos use but thats what pure denim does!keep calm and carry on :rotfl:

River Island is a great shop, And the shoes being wet would have had something to do with them shrinking. So yeah, I agree that the shop isnt to blame.0

Suede has to dry in open air not stuffed in a cupboard they need to breathe.0

Shop somewhere else then if you aren't satisfied.

Yeah, if the shoes get wet, you need to let them dry in an open space. I had pumps (not from river island) got wet in the rain, i didnt bother to let them dry, left them in a cold area (next to door) and they went like.......... mouldy because i didnt let them dry properly. i knew that was my fault and just chucked them. (well i had worn them like all summer, so they got a good wear for 12 squid)0

I work in River Island and it is always really easy to return items (at my store anyway)
Just kick up a fuss and ask for a manager... They'll almost always authorize a return.0 -
surely you know not to get suede wet? and all suede shoes from RI do come with care instructions, I myself shop a lot in RI and all my suede shoes from there came with care instructions.
