90% of my DD clothes have been given to us, however if we have the money and she needs specific things then I will buy them from asda or tesco now she is in 9-12 and 12-18 as they stay in them a bit longer. I would never buy things when she was 0-3 or 3-6, but never needed too as so much stuff was given, and most of it never worn!! Any new stuff I was given as presents I returned and got exactly the same item but in a bigger size, this meant she had a chance to wear everything.

Also just to add that things like vests are actually cheaper new from supermarkets than they are in my local charity shops, I know they have dubious ethics but I refuse to pay more for something that has been donated. I have been extremely fortunate to be given a large amount of beautiful stuff from friends and do not have a prob with second hand, but just think the majority of my local second hand shops seriously overcharge.

Agree completely with this too! Charity shops seem to think that charging more than Primark is acceptable, for second hand clothes. Thinking about it though I wonder if thats because people who price stuff in charity shops don't know how cheap some of the high street shops are? (Just a thought not a slur on charity shop pricers!) or the prices are set at head office and they REALLY don't know?!

Car boot sales all the way!!

From what I remember... Head office supply a basic guideline on maximum-minimum prices for items and the people doing the sorting and the labelling decide on an actual price... But they do seem to be getting more and more expensive...

My daughter has so much given to her, she has a suitcase of clothes to grow into for the next 3 years too... I do sometimes buy her the odd bits, just because it's nice to buy your little girl a new outfit... Still would never pay full price though!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I always brought my girls clothes from Tesco, or Asda and many of them I have used for all 3 of my girls. When my son was born, I brought many of his newborn clothes in the Tesco summer sale, and have also been lucky enough to have friends who have passed on all their boys outgrown stuff. I now have boxes and of clothes in my loft to take him up to age 8-9! and he's not 4 yet! I have only ever had to buy things like socks and pants and the occasional pair of trousers . When I'm done with the clothes, I pass them down to another friend who has 2 younger boys.

    Agree with car boots!

I got 2 massive bags of baby clothes for about £3 inc. Mamas and Papas and NEXT stuff. Don't pay more than 50p an item unless it's really good quality.

Roll on the good weather so I can pick up the rest of the stuff I want!!

This thread just makes me want to cry!! I buy ALL my sons clothes at car boot sales and rarely pay more than about 50p (Normally 20p!) for brand new, hardly worn Next, Pumpkin Patch, Osh kosh, asda, tesco, Marks and Spencer, you name it! I cannot bring myself to pay £3-00 for a pair of trousers when
    A. he is only going to be in them for about 6 months and will only wear them a dozen times or so because he has loads of clothes.
    and
    B. I know someone will be selling some on for 20-50p becuase theirt child has grown out of something they have only worn 3 or 4 times in 6 months....

People often comment on how beautifully dressed and smart my son looks...you would never know all his clothes (and most of his toys - same principle) are second hand. He has a couple of new bits I have bought him as he has needed them and we have been away and not near a car boot ;)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE in the spirit of moneysaving and reuse/recycle, don't spend your hard earned cash on new baby clothes :(

Went to a car boot sale monday, got a bag of baby clothes for £5! Very mse hehe.

Also i agree with the charity shops charging more thing, a charity shop in my area had a primark top in, with the tag on and selling it for more lol!
