    Just reading over earlier posts....

One of the girls at my work was about 4 weeks ahead of me, and she had a miscarriage at around 12 weeks. I felt terrible for her, and I felt very upset and guilty. I made sure that she knew the day before my scan that I was going for it. When I came into the office after the scan, I quietly showed the people in my team my pictures, as I hadn’t told them beforehand. I made a point of going over to see the girl and showing her my pictures as I knew she wanted to see them and was still pleased for me. We both had a wee cry together. I am not a showy person, so haven’t made a big deal about it, but she asks me how I am getting on, and we sometimes sit together with others at lunch and she joins in the conversation and is genuinely happy for me.

I suppose it depends on the individual and how well you know the person. Perhaps also, if they have been trying for a long while or something then it would be worse. I do feel awkward, but I am sensitive to her feelings and usually let her lead any conversation. By the same token, there is no way she would expect me not to be happy or celebrate my joy at having a baby. And I don’t think she would want me tiptoeing around her too much. I suppose you just need to strike the right balance.

My SIL is going for another early scan tomorrow as she has been bleeding. I am dreading the news if she has miscarried as she is quite fragile anyway, and I think I would feel extremely awkward about the whole situation.

ladies becareful 2 confirmed cases of swine flu in the uk .... GREAT extra worrying :( x

Starting to get a bit concerned about this...I had my honeymoon in Mexico and New York a few months ago! And I stay near the hospital in Scotland where they have confirmed cases. People are starting to suspect that I am leaving a trail of disease behind me.
