Right. I have some shopping-related questions which I know you ladies will love to answer!
First - when did you start shopping? I remember some people on here having the whole denial thing and I realise that I've got that now too!
People keep asking me what I've bought and looking horrified when I say nothing. I mean, I really haven;t got a thing yet although i have a few things in my favourites and pretty much know which pram I want, etc.
So - when is it normal to start actual shopping?
Also, what do I need? My list goes as follows:
crib
travel system (pram, car seat, etc)
muslins
washable nappies (but how many?)
babygros
baby sleeping bag
sling
nursing bras
nursing clothes
baby bath (maybe a tummy tub?)
And then I get stuck! Thing is, we go on holiday about 6-8 weeks after Bubba is due (wedding in Italy) so I am going to need stuff for holiday too! Like travel cot, sunscreen, hat for baby...
And I reckon I'll need to have done it all by the birth as I surely won;t want to go shopping afterwards?
Help me with my list! But i want to get as little as possible and will be co-sleeping and breastfeeding so don;t plan on needing bottles.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

ladies... best way to clean a carpet without spending loads of money or having a machine????? ...? x
Still searching .....:)

My head HURTS! And DH is off to work till midnight too. Had a snooze but it hasn't helped, taken paracetamol too and trying to drink loads in case it's dehydration.
Does baby have a growth spurt about 20 weeks? Been really tired past few days and thought that might be it.0 -
In what way does it need cleaning, searching? Are there marks on it on various spots, or do you just want to freshen it up?0

Washing powder in water and a stiff scrubbing brush, then a few towels to mop up the water was how my mum used to it when we were poor years ago. Always worked out well, but not the best thing for us with the bellies.0 -
skintchick, just off the top of my head.. sheets and blankets (I think there is something about a minimum size for baby to go in a grobag, so more of a just in case you have a dinky one) and the buckets and things you need for nappies (to store them before you wash a load together).
So far, I have only bought when there's been a special offer on or i've had vouchers/coupons to use up. Have got nappy bin/cartridges, playgym, steriliser (good for soothers and toys as well as bottles?), breast pump and a selection of nappies, wipes and clothes.
Feeling the need to start on the big stuff soon.. Possibly Kiddicare tomorrow!
ETA: Just remembered I have a sling too, plus rubber ring for sitting on afterwards (gift from friend!). Am not actually going to get the big stuff delivered until about 37-38wks due to too much work going on and nowhere to put it.0 -
it just needs a freshen up before bubs gets here but of course dont wanna soak the whole carpet and plus being on my hand and knees washing carpet aint something i should really be doing... i was thinking of getting that vanish foam carpet stuff but at £4.50 a tin id probably need about 3-4 not cheap :undecided x
Still searching .....:)

Actually that show my mum still does it, although now she uses the vax machine to suck up the water (they have 2 huskies and a Jess the lurcher who thinks she is a huskie). The vanish stuff works ok, use it on the bad bits. You can also sprinkle the bicarb about, brush it in with a big brush and hoover it up to freshen it up.
Skinty,
Vests
Cardigans
Bedding (some babies liek to be swaddled for the first few weeks)
Toiletries (wipes, bath stuff, changing mat (or a big towel)some medicines - nappy cream, calpol etc)
Sun screen/hat for now just in case
Towels for baby (or just use the family ones like I will be doing)
Bouncy chair and playmat/rug for tummy time
For going on holiday, have you checked where you are staying if they provide baby equipment like a cot etc?0 -

I think you have most things covered however for the holiday though we are going away 6 - 8 weeks as well and have brought a pop up cot they are tiny to carry. I started to buy stuff after my 12 week scan but have only properly been getting things in the last couple of months more because i can only afford to buy a couple of bits each month0 -
Just popped on for a quick catch up, congratulations Newmum. AM Hope all goes well hun Im so excited for you...
Had a busy day so far, done loads more diy....bit boring but productful and I want this house finished before my due date which is Thursday
Done loads of washing too, taking advantage of this lovely drying weather, oh well at least I get to use the sun for something!
