Back to another point raised in this post.
The £30 credit is their new tariff "We pay"
It sounds all good, in that you get paid to answer your phone, and receive texts. Also, most people know that mobile companies receive payments for other networks and landlines operators to carrying the call, so encouraging people to receive more calls, and pay out some of these benfits to customers might not be too far fetched.
Well, there's little or not benefits whatsoever!! The money you get back is capped at the amount that you have previously topped up, and the money is paid in top up, and not cash, which of course has an expiry date.
In order to benefit, people would have to spend more topping up, and then make sure they use the additional call allowance.
If someone was a high user, then of course they'd be topping up less under this scheme. However anyone who uses the phone that much, would be better off getting it on contract from a site that offers discounted line rental through cashback. You would then get a free phone, and your monthly line rental would include 500 anytime, any network minutes along with 100 texts.0 -
I bought one of these phones from Amazon (which is the cheapest place) 2 weeks ago and the following is my experience:
1) Yes battery life is poor but as long as you charge is when you get home, then it's not that much of an issue.
2) The phone has an expandable memory slot so can store MP3's etc which is good for a phone that cost me nothing!
3) Video capture which again for free is better than the crappy black and white screened Nokia 1100.
4) 3's video downloads are very good, especially the football clips which you can watch at around 5.30pm on a Saturday - save waiting for match of the day!
5) The wepay tariff is good for free... Basically you get credit for receiving calls, I topped up today and got £10 free! (Topped up £10). 100% free credit.
For a 3G phone for free this is very good. Obviously there are better handset available on contract but for all that you get with this phone, I am very happy.0
