Hi sandra, so did anything change and this started to happen? did you have it for a while before it started? or was it always like it?

    Hi

The broadband just started to knock off and disconnect, it wasnt as bad at first and just went from bad to worse in a couple of weeks where I couldnt get onto Broadband for longer than 5 mins before it cut off. The worse thing was that AOL kept saying you must have the modem set up wrong, it had been working for about a year ok before that - doh. I totally understand how you would like to strangle the person on the other end of the phone, that is when I told them to stuff it about an hour on the phone at premium rate.

Helen as per Sandra's experience that is why i asked about road works or is your line off a telegraph pole - large birds been flying around lately... something may have happened to your line recently (between the exchange and your house) - just before the problems started - the last 14 pages was to ensure your kit in the house works.

Keep trying the 151 service see post #40 - no people involved - to test your line - till they happen to hit your fault ...

When you keep phoning them keep pressing the number to speak to someone, eventually they will get fed up with you and send someone out. My colleague at work whos sister had the same problem said hers only happened intermittently and when the weather was bad. Keep phoning BT and tell them it is intermitent, and you have noticed it is worse when its windy, raining, snowing etc etc and lay it on thick until they agree to send an Engineer. I am convinced it is the same problem as I had.

I am not sure you will see anything, as hubby stripped cable back and thats when he saw it was rotted. Keep an eye on the weather though and see if its any better when it is a calm day. I also noticed it was better late at night when the telephone exchange was least busy seemed to get a better connection.

    The 151 service
( you can dial this from home - just done it
    enter your number
    press one to confirm
    then 1 again t
hen 1 with only broadband problems as far as I took it was under a minute - no ppl so swear away )

With my line fault I was asked when I was available for an engineer to visit if need be - once they spot your fault - it may be their auto testing is more indepth and may spot the error...

That is why I am saying use the automated system (dial 151)- but then I hung up once it said press 1 for broadband only ..... brb may lose my BB while it gets tested .... :rotfl: They don't auto-test for non BT BB customers .. slap me again ...

okay so try it for the none broadband problem to get your line tested - automatically - no need to ask a person to do it, system does it while you wait - it may spot the error.... if they find a fault they will send an engineer .... at a time convient to you etc ...
