Getting to Stanstead Airport from Euston

There's a bus from Chelmsford to Stansted: X30 is fast, 33 is slow http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/southeast/essex/stansted/index.php0

On reflection Easybus from Baker Street looks like the cheapest option. Baker Street isn't far from Euston - check out TFL journey planner http://www.tfl.gov.uk/0

I'm a money saving meany. So when we had to be at Stansted at 6.30 am, we caught the last possible train from Birmingham that got us to Euston about 10.30 and then caught the train to stansted. The tickets were for Birmingham to Stansted so no extra for that bit. We then spent a very uncomfortable night in the airport.
But it was cheap.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

You dont mentioned what time dates, nor departure / arrival times.
But to stay at this hotel you could be looking at £150-£160 for 2 adults, 2 children for 1 night.
We already have the travelodge booked - got it for £9 for a family room during one of their sales. My children are 15 and 13 so travelodge is one of the few places that we can manage in 1 room.
Our departure time is 9.30am, checking in from 6.30am on the Tuesday morning. Our return flight gets in at 9.30am so we've got all day to get home to Glasgow. We'll probably get the train down to London - on our return date advance fares are not out yet but the day before our outward flight all 4 of us can travel down for £30.0 -
Have you looked at train tickets Glasgow-Stansted, changing at either Birmingham or Peterborough?0

I never thought of booking tickets from Glasgow to Stansted. I was looking at Glasgow to Euston then Euston/Baker Street to Stansted. With the family railcard the fare is only £6 more than to Euston.

The fare I've found goes to Euston, then tube to Tottenham Hale then train to Stansted Airport. Thanks for the suggestion of Glasgow-Stansted0 -
I agree with joolsybools - the easybus option looks cheapest and, given the fact that you can pick up the bus in Baker Street, is not too far from Euston when you arrive. Terravision also good value but getting to Liverpool Street is a bit more awkward from Euston on the tube, and more expensive if you take a cab.0

Can you get an inclusive price from Glasgow to Stansted? If not then try Bishops Stortford as it is about 3-4 miles from the airport. Or, Braintree as this will bring you south of Dunmow and the same distance as from Stansted.
The Travelodge you have booked is at Great Dunmow which is about 10 miles to the airport (maybe a little less since the bypass opened and very quick to get there) but you would still need to get from Stansted to Dunmow both ways though.
Could get the National Express from Glasgow sleep on the journey down overnight, change at Birmingham for Stansted and get to Stansted early morning, they run through the night don't they? Or try for a £1 funfare that goes into London and then from London to Stansted?
I have to say that Great Dunmow is one of the worst places you could have chosen because there are no trains in or around there for 10 miles, it is just in the middle of nowhere really, which is fine if you are driving but if not it is in the middle of the sticks. You also need to make sure that the cab they send is big enough for luggage as well but you are looking at around £20+ each way for the taxi I am afraid.
Is it really £27 from London to Glasgow return for 4 of you? Are you sure that is not each? I'd try and see how much they are charging you from London to Bishops Stortford as they might be charging a premuim to get to Stansted and the saving might make a difference as well as I say, it is only 3 or 4 miles difference and it could be a huge saving. Or just go via Peterborough and there will be no changing.
If you go via Bishops Stortford it will include the tube from London Euston to Tottenham Hale so there would be no extra expense but try to avoid 4.30-6.30pm weekdays as there really will be no room to get cases on, it is every man, woman and child for themselves during rush hour and it's a fight to get on without luggage!!0 -
Have to confess that I too have spent the night at the airport - several times - to avoid having to pay for cabs and hotels!! It depends on the age of your kids, I would not do it with a baby but with kids aged 5 upwards it would be a bit of an adventure for them. I've also done a night bus to and from Paris as it was cheaper than a flight!!0
