My mortgage is with the co-op and I am in the process of completing now, I asked for my survey 3 weeks ago I have just had the paperwork through from the provider Countrywide who co-op use even though I paid last week, they still havn't done the survey. I suggest its co-op's fault and not the buyer.0 -

Itis most unusual for ANY sale to go through smoothly.
The rest have some big issue arising whether at the outset, in the middle or just before the exchange. Let's hope, in your case, this has been the issue and the rest goes relatively smoothly:jA retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. How can you be getting ready to complete and they haven't even done the survey yet? It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

It sounds to me like they might be buying with the aid of one of these funky* government schemes. iirc the open market homebuy scheme works something along the lines of an equity loan for the deposit with a mortgage which I think has to be from the coop - this would explain the bit from the solicitors mentioned in their letter. I guess buying using a government scheme is going to be a lot more long-winded and could explain the delay?
*funky as in "this cheese smells funky, how long has it been in the fridge" not the groovy 70's meaning.0 -
From a buyer's perspective, we've had our mortgage application with the natwest for just under two weeks now, stuck with underwriting, but we can't get a survey done till they agree the mortgage. I keep having to ring the estate agent to tell them we're still going ahead with it all - quite frustrating and the time taken is no indication of our eagerness for this to all go through.
That said, we have instructed our solicitor to go ahead with his stuff.0 -
All completed now.. Hopefully it will go ok. The buyer was on the phone to the EA today saying that he wants to rush things through ASAP so that is encouraging. Will probably be another couple of weeks before I hear anything else though.
I'm getting nervous to think that in under 2 months I could be in another country!
They are doing one of this Government Schemes. I don't know how much they are borrowing sounds like 100% from what my solicitor has said.
Will keep you all posted thanks again

Excellent news, you must be relieved!
I'm in the same position - it's probably been 5/6 weeks now, but EA keeping tabs on buyer who's running around making sure their lender hurries up and organises the survey.
It seems that the lenders are taking their time. I just hope we don't get down valued now.
It's been useful to read this post
