Hi CQ,
I suffer quite bad with static shocks too, particulary in Debenhams and in lifts when I go to hit the buttons. I tend to pull my sleeve over my hand before I touch anything metal or keep my gloves on, but even then I sometimes get shocks. I try and earth myself first on something other than metal to get rid of the electric I've stored up and then hit lift buttons etc, or use trolleys, baskets etc. Went to pick up a kitchen utensil in M&S one time to look at it and I got such a shock off it you could see the spark. My poor hands, end up dropping the thing on the floor. People must have thought I was crazy. Radiators are another thing that I got bad shocks off. Just try to earth yourself first on something other than metal and you should be ok and don't wear rubber soled footwear. HTH. :-)“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. Glad its not just me in Tescos, I often get really painful static shocks in the clothing aisles. I can wear anything that isn't a natural fibre without it clinging to me which is highly unpleasant. And sometimes my hair drives me crazy so I have to tie it back. I find its worse in this type of weather. Glad to hear I'm 'normal'.
My biggest tip would be to avoid stuff like fleece as its 100% polyester when you are having a bad spate of static. In many cases it's the carpet that's a main cause, especially those with nylon in the mix. Looking up anti static sprays to help treat this I found the following site which not only explains things well but has a home made spray recipe.

I always get shocks when I'm shopping, be it Tesco, Boots, wherever. I can never touch the buttons on the lift and will get/give shocks to/from other people when out and about. Its awful isnt it??
Edit:I get the staticy hair too, too many brushes and I looked like I've stuck my finger in a socket.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -

This is one of the tips.... they are having a laugh!!!!:rotfl:
You could try driving completely naked. Going out in public unclothed is not recommended though, and liable to get you arrested. It's doubtful the police would believe you're trying to prevent static build-up.0
