I found this particular quote from one of those links rather interesting ...
People with higher levels of sodium in their blood or with slightly acidic blood can get more shocks that those with a more basic or alkaline blood level. Some of that has to do with diet. Drinking more water also helps sometimes.

I wonder if being ill, and possibly being a little dehydrated, might explain why the shocks have got so much worse the last few days

Trouble is I can't even turn a tap on without getting shocked, and even get a shock from the water itself  :rotfl:

I've always suffered from static but it has been really bad this winter - I couldn't get out the car yesterday - the shocks were really hurting...had to get hubby to open the door for me........and like the rest of you - the cats run away from me at the moment.

DH bought me a pair of satin pj's for xmas - I can't wear them without them tripping me up - they just cling. I've been even considering getting all my hair cut off so that it stops clinging to me all the time.

Will try drinking more water and see if that helps!

Racy, have you got photocopiers in your office? It says that these are a very high source of static shock so maybe that's what is causing the problems at work, as well as a dry atmosphere if the heating is on constantly.

Yep, an air conditioned office with loads of electrical equipment and no plants or humidifiers.

The links pretty much explain the shocks and perhaps the odd behaviour of our computers lately. Email to the boss is on it's way. icon10.gif
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

I get these as well. OH finds it funny when I can't get out the car  . The only thing that I have found that helps is if i'm having a really bad day I pull my sleeves over my hands as well so everything is touched through my jumper sleeve. Sorry I can't be of more help. I will go and read those links now.

we had a terrible time with static shocks from the car just after we had put new tyres on. lasted for a good two months  it got so bad at one point that i used to hate getting out of the car, because you knew what was coming. we invented some ingenious ways of shutting the doors to avoid them :p:D

i get ever so bad shocks, i always have it's really annoying, i've noticed that i get it even more when i've been walking on carpet, with or without my shoes on, so if you have carpet try not to drag your feet i don't think that helps much.

At work i have to put my coat and hold the door handle with my sleeve to be able to go to the loo, if i've got a short sleeved top on or else they are really bad, i cant re-tune the radio either, i touched the ariel the other week and nearly shot through the ceiling :rotfl:

Don't shuffle your feet when you walk and don't wriggle around too much when you're sat down. It's like charging yourself up. lol. I always get it in supermarkets, drives me mad.

I always always get them when I go to my Tesco - and it is always in the clothing section. There is different flooring, i'm guessing it must be that, if I take my hands off the trolley handle and touch the metal I always get a shock!
