    Noooooo.

It's down to not having a spendaholic husband anymore. Having more money from re-training and mantainence, working tax credits and of course MSE.

Quick update on the month so far. New from ISA provider that they have received the transfer money and will backdate to show the money arriving in the account as of the day my old account was closed.

Electricty supplier have refunded £187 and a few pennies so have paid £188 into ISA. Making a total of £488 into ISA this month and £750 into regular savings, all earmarked for the mortage barring any major disasters. I've also used uswitch to begin changing supplier and will hopefully get another 12 bottles of wine as it's over a year since I benefitted from this deal!

House insurance renewal came and I managed to stay with the same provider but shaved just over £160 off the renewal price with a quick check of their site and a phonecall.

Quick update, a while since I last updated!

I've resigned from my job as I need to move back to my roots. This means as of 1st Sep, I'm unemloyed so unable to make overpayments. My mortgage company are saying my mortgage was only portable until an early repayment charge was no longer payable. So now I need to change my mortgage to a higher rate and then port the new mortgage. Meanwhile, I've not managed to sell my property and need to be up North by September so the children can begin new schools at the start of the new academic year.

The plus side of the move is that whilst I'll be downsizing the mortgage will also go down. However, not sure where everything will fit - perhaps I won't be very moneysaving and will buy new furniture for a new start!
  • Hi Chirpchirp, good to hear from you again - I thought I'd not seen your diary for a while.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you (guess you've got your work cut out if you're gonna move everyone up North by September!!), and OPs or not, do keep posting to let us know how you're getting on!

    Ahh - decisions decisions

Basically I have no job as I've had to resign due to needing to relocate. (Damn, hope my ex never finds this diary, he will know it's me straight away) My father was fine in April, I noticed he had some shaking and Mum said he was sleeping alot . I suggested he get checked for Parkinsons. Basically it wasn't but by half term he started to become confused and had a fall. He is now extremely confused all of the time and is needing carers to visit. I'm basically locating to be near to help Mum. However, it's a huge move and a huge change in lifestyle to move 210 miles. I'm having to do this quickly due to the children.

The effect of this is I'm about to decimate my mortgage savings, but without them I wouldn't be in the position to do what I'm doing

Firstly I'm going to lose my working tax credit and my monthly wages approx £2000 in total ( May not be this much, as I expect my Child Tax Credit will still be paid, but best to budget as though it has all gone). I also need to come up with a deposit of £5000 ( from savings), Rent £650 a month. My mortgage company are saying my mortgage isn't portable so I need to take a new mortgage with them which will increase my interest only to £375 a month instead of my £299. The other downside with this is that I lose my .49 above base rate for life time of the mortgage! Then I can port this mortgage when the time to complete occurs. However, I will have maitenance and savings to tide me over until I can find a job.

It's all a bit risky as my house hasn't sold so I'm hopefully planning to exchange with a period of 12 months to complete. I've had lots of viewings on my house and I've agreed a price with a lady but she hasn't sold her property yet.

I need lots of good luck vibes sending this way. So if it's ok with Cake, FB and Maz I still intend to stay as part of the mortgage challenges, in fact if I sell I will have some equity (hopefully) and may still manage the challenges but for the time being I expect to be way below targets.

Hi Chirpchirp... a lot of positive vibes and a big (((hug))) are winging their way in your direction.

You're facing a tough decision, but from what you've written, it sounds as if it's the right one for you - it's very hard to see the people you love and who have loved you always and whatever, suffer. And right now, it seems both your Dad and your Mum, need your support. I'm very fortunate in that my parents live just down the road, but if they were further afield and needed my help, I'd try and do whatever was needed to make their lives easier.

I've also noticed that life has a tendency to work itself out in mysterious ways. And if there's even an ounce of natural justice in this world, I'm willing to bet that the lining for you won't just be silver, but pure gold.
