Laughing at being too rough with them. My first one I dropped down the stairs after having owned it for seven years. I superglued it together and it lasted 9 months. Then I fell in love with the idea of one with a ball and bought that about 18 months ago.

I don't know if it stopped working altogether all I know is when it was switched on within 3 seconds I could smell burning so I switched if off. I knew I'd blocked the air filter and recognised the smell as a burning motor.

This week I have an MOT due. I think the brake pads will need changing and possibly a new clutch as the clutch is making a funny noise. The car has also developed a whistle which it does periodically, this is coupled with the wheels being extra black and sometimes warm after the noise has occurred, leads me to the conclusion of new brake pads. I think this one may well be costly!

Why do you say that? Have you actually broken one?:D

no :o just my floor when I dropped it :( but all the plasticy bits kept breaking off and the plug wouldn't go back in. I've gone for a miele vacuum now - so far so good :)

Here's hoping the MOT isn't too costly chirpchirp!

Dyson repair £25:j:j:j Motor not broken - sweet wrapper had got into motor - my own fault I posted it into the wrong hole

    MOT - £54

New brake pads on all four wheels - £135 - not too bad.

All in all it could have been a lot worse!!!!!!!!!

Having a great MSE weekend! Finally feel alive abit. For months I've not felt like doing anything at the weekends and I constantly seem to have headaches. It was my eldests birthday earlier in the week and she insisted on celebrating it with some friends! So, a very hectic day.

Hoovered car. Took youngest to football. Came home grabbed some lunch and then off to the cinema 20 miles away. Gaining 2 more children along the way and swapping yougest for a different child. Then at the cinema spent the following:

Tesco vouchers spent on 1 adult and 2 children's entries to cinema. Paid by debit card for a further 2 children. However, my ticket still showed as costing the same as a child so can't work out just how much I saved. Spent £11.60 on tickets

    Drinks/Popcorn - £16.20!!!!!

Meal afterwards - spent £70 tesco vouchers and £16.80 on drinks.

All in all not too bad for a birthday treat for 4 children and an adult.

However, I then took one of the children back to their house and realised just what a state my house is in and just how much work it needs on it both in cleaning and in renovation eg new carpets/laminate, minor building work etc. So in my head I've spent thousands. Would love to do the jobs, if only a builder would ever get back in touch. Starting to think I could also do with a cleaner but they are so expensive, a window cleaner would be nice too. Just never enough hours in the day or motivation!

Could this be caffeine withdrawal chirpchirp? I used to drink tea all day at work & often had bad headaches at weekends. Now in my new job I'm too busy to drink a lot so the problem is solved :o
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hi GG, Definitely not caffeine withdrawal. I drink too much caffeine with diet coke and the tea at work has caffeine in it. I have decaf at home though and have done since 93.

Each night when I come in I'm just so tired or I have a headache. It could be eye strain but I don't think so. It could be stress, but I don't feel that I am stressed but my doctor thinks I might be as my IBS has flared up after 13 years or so of being dormant. I even got a headache during the film! It could be that I don't actually do anything to ever properly relax.

Quick update on the AA cover. Rang today to pay the £75 which they offered to do when I went to the retentions department a few weeks ago. I asked today for the retentions department and the lady I had previously spoken to and this time I got a man. He had been given my account number and the first thing he said was " You've been with us a long time, so I that will be £69"

So another £6 shaved off making a total saving of £39!

Have sorted out my ISA issues. I've decided to put my ISA investment money into a cash ISA. So, I've cancelled my dd for my stocks and shares isa and I've opened an account with Santander at the end of last week, so I just mangaged to get the 3.5% rate. I will be paying £300 a month into this now, previously I paid it into the investments but I didn't count it as an overpayment due to the charges that were incurred with each payment. Now I'll have this as an extra £300 a month overpayment.

Also transferred my Barclays Golden ISA from last year to Santander at 2.25%.

It's amazing being in credit! Spent so many years in debt!
