Maniac driver!

Was driving home from work on a notorious stretch of road & this idiot van driver was that close up my backside I thought he'd crash in to me. If something had ran across the road & I had to brake suddenly he'd have been right in the back of me! The road is a 60 & I was doing between 55 & 60 yet he decided to overtake me on a dipped blind bend whilst giving me hackies

I then flashed him & he gave some sort of gesture was unsure if it was the v's or the coffee bean sign??

Stupid idiot works for a reputable local company as it was written all over his van. I caught him up at the lights 3 miles down the road (going the same speed) then jotted down his registration. I hate people who drive like that, he'll no doubt do it again until he hurts or kills someone! It was only by the grace of god that no-one was coming the other way.

Now here's the dilema shall I phone said company & tell them what he's drivings like! I really want to complain & give the road maniac a warning from his bosses

Yes, phone his boss. I used to work as a courier and did this a few times when drivers were being particularly dangerous.

If nothing else he will get a good ticking off from his boss.

Definitley report - there are too many idiots out on the road and too many people being killed or maimed as a result. If this guy doesn't want to drive safely then his job should be given to someone who will. There are plenty of people out there at the moment out of work who would jump at the chance.

I've reported someone before who was driving like a maniac in their works van. They tailgated me for miles (and I was doing 10mph over the speed limit!), then overtook dangerously with a car coming the other way, so nearly clipped the front of my car when pulling in, and then they proceeded to do it to two other cars!!

I looked the company up online and emailed them, and got a response back saying the issue was being dealt with. I got the impression someone else had also complained!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Definately phone the company - i know if it was my company and he was driving like an @rse with my company name all over his van i would want to know!
I nearly had an accident a couple of months ago when someone driving a company van swerved unexpectedly into my lane and totally cut me up - hubby was sitting next to me and phoned the company straight away. They seemed fairly annoyed at their driver and were very apologetic.

An indicated 55 is closer to 50mph.
So you were driving at 50 in a 60 and got upset when someone overtook you?

I am delighted when a tail gater overtakes me, rather them in front driving away than on top of me.
In fact I often slow down a little to encourage them too;)

ah, so you are one of those people that like to argue for the sake of it. I wonder if you were standing in a pub would you add your two penny's worth to the conversation?

I think, somehow, the point is here that they were tailgating, and then made rude gestures, which just shows how sad a society we are living in these days.

Can you imagine this happening years ago when they all rode horses ?:rotfl:

55 is not closer to 50 than it is to 60 - it is exactly half way between the two, so that argument is stupid.

the OP did not say they were upset because they were overtaken, but the manner in which it was done.

Why do people on this forum always look for something to shoot people down in flames for - gets on my nerves.

  • Drivers like that really annoy me. Had one tailgating me this morning on a 10-mile stretch of narrow country road which is mostly national speed limit but does change to 30mph and 40mph when you go through villages. He must have got annoyed with me obeying the speed limits as he decided to overtake on a bend - considering I was doing 60mph at this point he would have had to really put his foot down!

There was a car coming the other way but he still decided to go for it causing me and the driver coming the other way to have to slow right down to avoid a disaster - Mr. Tailgater wouldn't have had enough room to move back in otherwise.

The place at which he overtook me was just before you get to a really busy village centre, meaning he had to slow right down again, so it was really pointless to overtake. He took such a risk to gain one car space...

i drive a mondeo for work everyday, and i rarely see such stupid driving. mistakes yes, but not that bad! i would report immediatly, and demand a follow up from the manager less i inform the police as it is dangerous driving and should be reported.

i usually see iddiots coming (you get that spider sense if you drive alot dont you?!) so i let them past too, let them crash ahead then i can sail past and leave the b ugger to burn!
