Maniac driver!

55 is not closer to 50 than it is to 60 - it is exactly half way between the two, so that argument is stupid.
If you read their post properly you would see they said "indicated 55", (though this is perhaps splitting hairs.....)
Report the driver to the company AND the police, you'll be surprised that most times they take this seriously and the police will have a 'chat' with the driver, that will at least make him think twice.0 -

So you were driving at 50 in a 60 and got upset when someone overtook you?
It's not always safe to drive at 60 in a national speed limit zone anyway. Country roads, for example. There's a 60 limit zone on my drive to work but I only do 40 because of the pot holes, bumps, narrow parts and tight corners!0 -
Report him to company and police, you may just save someone elses life.0

The Police won't do anything as there is no independent witnesses. Crikey, if I reported people for bad driving every time I witnessed it on the way to work, I would be permanently at the Police station.
Agreed though - report it to the company involved.0 -

60 mph is an upper maximum speed limit.
Speed should be related to prevailing road, traffic and weather conditions.0 -

I reported a driver who was driving the wrong way round a roundabout, he almost hit me.
I went straight to the police station and gave a statement. A few months later I received a letter saying he had been fined and given points, the police had contacted him and he admitted it straight away.0 -

The exception rather than the rule I suspect.
I have been asking the Police to take action against someone who drove into me and is refusing to give insurance details contrary to s. 154 RTA. Its open and shut and not one of the 8 officers I have spoken to could give a stuff.0 -

If this van was a not a car derived van ie a transit or similar then the legal speed limit for that vehicle on a 60mph road would be 50mph so the van would have been speeding.
Many people do not realise that smaller vans are applicable to the reduced speed limit ie not the speed limits for cars if that makes sense.
On the subject of reporting to the Police, do it , my local force have a website called Operation Crackdown and they proactively encourage members of the public to report any anti social driving ie speeding, road rage, doughnuting in car parks, playing music too loud.
If they get more than 2 separate complaints about the same vehicle they will pay them a visit an issue them a section 59 which is a warning which stays on the vehicle and them.If they get another then the car (or van) is taken

Surely thats open to abuse, if there is someone you don't like you and two mates make a complaint and the person loses their car?
I take it there are checks to see if the complaints are genuine?0
