Netgear/wireless problem - anyone know why?

I had to dig out my old BT modem to get online as my Netgear wirless router has not worked properly since Thursday.

It says that I am connected, the 2 lights are flashing on the PC card simultaneosly, I am told the signal strength is excellent. But it wont let me view any pages on the internet and my outlook express cannot update the inbox.

I had not changed anything at all since the last time I used it. Will I need to reconfigure it again? I have not tried this, but it was a !!!!!! to get up an running in the first place so I just wanted to check on alternative solutions before I do all that again.

Thanks, Lally

Click Start - Run - type in cmd and press return. At the command prompt type:

    ipconfig/all

    and post the results here.

    can you ping 192.168.0.1
    can you ping https://www.google.com

    if yes, and no.

go into the router config page, and check it is connected to your isp

    http://192.168.0.1
    router status
    connection status
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

You may need to refersh your DNS.
Reboot the router and reboot the pc.
You could also try disabling and then re-enabling your Network Connection.

A friend also had this problem. His digi sender for the tv was interfering with his signal.

lally what netgear are you using? And a rather obvious question: have you tried the FAQ for that router on Netgears pages?

You have to type cmd in the Run box and press return or click OK. Then in the new window that has opened, type ipconfig/all and press return.

He/she must be typing ipconfig/all in the Run box. Without a space you get a Windows error; with a space a command window flashes up and disappears. :o
