You can't order it from Staples website as it's not on there, but you can ring a store and ask them to put one aside for you. Halfords have it on their website, along with the voucher offer. Of course, if you order online you don't have a chance to get a better deal.

Just been having fun with mine, but it's a bit artificial when you actually know where you are going. Will have to venture into the big wide world and give it a proper test soon.

I love mine very much indeed, and i was lucky to get mine in Somerfields. It does make the occasional error in trying to direct you up a dead end but apart from that it's great.
I do typically 1000miles a week and i wouldn't be without it now - particularly as you can overlay the speed camera information so it alerts you of these too.

I rang Sheffield Staples up on Monday to be told they sold out at the weekend but were expecting some on Tuesday, she also said they were £119. Rang Wakefield Staples up and they said they had one left, so they put it aside for me and when I got there it came up at £129. I said Sheffield had said £119 and it was all over the internet at that price, and the manager just said that Sheffield were wrong, it was £129, but she would do it for £119 anyway for me.

When she had left the till I asked the girl there if they did student discounts, knowing full well they did, and that brought it down to £107.99! Result!

I've got my Dell Axim X5 with Tom Tom Navigator on ebay now to recoupe the cost.

As a comparison, I would say that for someone who just needs a GPS and not a PDA, the little Garmin wins hands down every time. The menu's are a bit easier to use on the Tom Tom, because its a keyboard you tap with the stylus as opposed to the scroll button on the Garmin, but for £100 you cant really complain too much.

I went to the Garmin site today to update my software as recommended on here. They have 'Beta Software: StreetPilot i3 Ver. 2.82 Beta as of March 6, 2006 ' .

Has any1 installed this and used it ? Should I be looking to download this onto my I3

The sales manager in the Staples I went to was happy to price-match, providing you have proof of the current offer, and that the product is actually available online or locally. Probably not the case anymore with Somerfields unless someone has found a secret stash and hasn't let on.

Dont bother with beta software, let them iron out any niggles and bugs first, it wont be any better than the one you have anyway at this stage I doubt. You might also like to check Pocket GPS, do a google for it, loads of info on there.

Went to staples today for the i3 hoping to use my student discount card but they wouldn't let me...two different assistants told me that they do not offer student discounts?

Does anyone know of sites that list it at £119.99 - i need a print out for either Halfords or Staples to do a price match...can't find anything on the net :sad:
