we rang up to order sky+ 2 weeks ago and were given an installation date of today, 8.30 today engineer rang to say he would be with us between 3pm and 6pm.
At 6.45pm we rang the helpline and they told us to wait until 7pm and call back, which we did. We've been passed to hold and 3 different people and been given a new date in FEBRUARY >:( >:(
Worst thing about them is that they took our money from account 10 days ago.

Nothing about SKY surprises me any more.
My 1999 Panasonic digibox stopped working after a software upgrade (when they issued the personaliser) and they told me I had to pay for an engineer to come out. The call centres were totally inundated with problems at the time. I told them the problem was with the software and that they needed to put me back to the old version but they insisted that I pay for an engineer. I explained that I knew someone at the time that worked for Sky in the software development side and it was he who told me exactly what the problem was - the call centre still had no interest. In the end I agreed to pay £50 for an engineer to call out. The night before the engineer was due to come out I noticed that my digibox was working OK and that I had received a software update. I phoned my contact at the software department in Sky who told me that this was now the correct version and should work with my digibox. I then rang the call centre to cancel my engineer visit and get my £50 back - at first they tried telling me it was too late ... yea right ... I asked for a suprevisor who was well aware of the situation and said that one of the callcentres 'had gone into revolt' (her words) over this issue because people were being 'conned' (again her words) out of £50. Sky knew the problem was at their end but were still charging people.
The other one I have heard of is people being phoned by Sky to take out maintenance contracts on their digiboxes. Some people who have refused have found that their digiboxes magically stop working a few days later? ? ? I will let people decide for themselves if this coincidence or not.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Sounds pants to me, can you not phone back and talk to someone higher up?
No Sky for Xmas is like having no turkey - mind you sod all on most of the time, just 300 channels of cr*p!0 -
Sky at the moment have a monopoly!
However on the Sky+ front, cancel your order with Sky, make sure you get your money back!
Then lookup a local independant installer, I had Sky+ installed with 3 days notice and with a superior Pace V2 box instead of the dodgy Amstrad with Sky are shifting at the moment!
I am sure the extra £40 I paid will easily be saved over the medium term!
Had it over a week and Sky + is the best bit of consumer electronics I have bought!0 -
I've already got sky full package
I didn't know you could get sky+ via anyone other than sky ???I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. You can install Sky+ yourself, but unless your good with cables and dishes, I wouldn't.
Mostly independant installers are a little more reliable than Sky's own and they install more reliable kit!0
