    Thanks for that info - not that I know what the desktop player is!! I used to use 'Zattoo' on my old pc and the 'always on top' was a feature of Zattoo (which I also found out about from this forum) which I found useful. However, you do need to download Zattoo, TVCatchup is handier as you just register, no downloads required.

    you could try http://www.zattoo.com this has an app that will sit on top of your other windows, different channels tho but most bbc etc are there.

    I suppose, as to all intents and purposes it is streaming live (even if it is a few seconds behind), this would require the user to have a TV license?

    I think it's clear that you do need a TV license to use this legally, yes.

    so if you have a tv licence at home can you use this on your laptop when on the train or something?
