Can I cancel a bt mobile contract early?
I have had a BT mobile for 2 months and the signal is awful in my house, text messages are delayed and I get cut off. I have complained and complained but they do not want to know as its outside the original get out period. What is the least I can expect to pay to get out of it. I want to go back to orange. Can I get any new shop or provider to pay some for me...Any ideas would be appreciated........I know I've really been a bit silly to get caught like this....but I dont want to carry on paying £20 per month for a useless service

They are unlikely to let you out of it. To get out of it you would have to pay the £20 for all of the months in the minimum term of the contract which you haven't yet used.
However, so long as you didn't agree to stay on your current tariff for the duration of the contract, you might try and see if there is a tariff with a lesser monthly line rental and then get them to change you to that. This will minimise the loss.0 -
Did you get a cashback deal- if so might be worth just seeing it thro anywayAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

No cashback i'm afraid, thought it was a good deal at the time.Just goes to show how "valuable" double checking its exactly what you want within the cool off period......I am sure all the other suppliers are the same...I am awaiting a reply..so will be interesting to see if they can offer me anything.0

depending which phone you got with the contract, youc ould sell it for £200 if it's decent and cancel the remainder of contract i.e. 10 x £20. Then take a new contract elsewhere0

If you are waiting for a reply from BT mobile then I would give up hope entirely!
I gave up after waiting several weeks for someone to get back to me 'urgently' and sent them a recorded delivery letter. Letter received by them first week of November and still not actioned. Phoned them last week to be told that yes they had the letter but they were very busy and should act on my instructions within another month or so.
This is all for a contract I originally took out in August this year and which still isn't right.

looking at Ebay and adtrader it's probably worth around the £160/170 mark so depends if you are prepared to take the £30/£40 loss(I would suggest you wait till 6 months then downgrade to the lowest tarriff possible to then enable you to cover your costs but that would mean you have to keep a fairly useless contract for 4 months and the 2nd hand value of the handset would drop too)
Your choice but if it's really that bad a situation selling up and cancelling may be best bet, try for a cheap/cashback contract instead which should hopefully even things up over next 12 months instead(or take out a new contract and sell the new phone and use the new contract SIM in your V600 assuming it is unlocked is another alternative)0 -
Thanks for all the advice...I've never sold anything on ebay before. Do I have to unlock the phone before I sell it?
I have had a few imediate replies promptly from bt but anyting specific and personal to my contract has taken ages . I am very frustrated!!!!!!!
I think I will sell the phone and get another contract with orange...that way its over and done with.0 -

I see you are selling for the first time on e-bay.
Be careful! Especially take note of your phone's imei number. (Unscrupulous people are known to have bought a phone on e-bay, then shortly after returned it saying it's faulty and thus getting a full refund. In fact the phone they have returned was not the one they bought - but another broken one, of the identical model)
(Put a note in with the phone confirming it's id when you eventually send it to the buyer - that lets them know you have recorded the details)0 -
if you aren't happy selling on Ebay I've found selling via https://www.adtrader.co.uk to be successful for me, your advert goes online and also in the local freeads paper, this way you can normal conduct the transaction face to face and get the money in your hand0
