Marriage is about 'for better or for worse.' He's helped you before; obviously I don't know you two, but he'll see that you're being serious, and I reckon you'll find after telling him that you worried needlessly.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • Oh my goodness. Did you ever get into a situation when you know you need to confess something and once you decide you want to confess, you want to do it NOW? Well, that's me. I've just emailed my husband at work (longest email in the world i think lol!) and told him absolutely everything.......

I then had an agonising 20 minute wait for his reply, felt like 20 hours. He was fine, he was wonderful. He said it wasn't a total surprise, he could see i was living beyond my means for months. He said he loved me and would help me in any way he could.

    Oh god, i'm crying again.

Between this site and his reaction i feel like a massive weight has been lifted. I know it's a long old journey i've got now, but i'm ready for it.

    Thank you everyone xxx
Why is there always so much month left at the end of my money?

I'm going squishy too - well done you, now you're a team of two solving this (with us cheering from the sidelines!)

    Hugs

  • Hey Little Miss,

WELLL LLLL DONE! I'm so proud of you! He's been great and I bet you he gives you a BIG hug and tells you everything will be okay when he comes home. My OH suspected too - they know what you earn and what disposable income you have so it doesn't come as a huge surprise.

I really am so happy for you - hopefully you'll have a great chat tonight and come up with some kind of plan. Keep posting - I'm thinking about you!

    Hey scottish

I feel pretty good actually now! It's been quite a day, i feel drained from all the crying lol, but calmer, happier.

Ha ha, he said in his email "i'm not a stupid man and i could see you were spending more than you were earning". You're right, they do know what we earn, so it's not difficult!!

Oh yes, i could definitely do with a BIG hug from him tonight. He finished at 7pm, so only another few hours till he's home!

:D <---- didn't think i had that in me this morning!!

I'm crying too. You are doing really well.We are really proud of you. and as your dents totalled £14k when you thought it was £20k you are already over a quarter of the way there !

Maybe you could have the beginnings of a plan in hand by the time he comes home ?

Also EGG might be 0% (they have some funny deals & anniversary deals) on balance transfers in which case I would move as much debt as possible there & then you are paying of debt not paying so much interest.

Must be something you can do about that phone bill though surely, its a monster.

Well done. U have done something that I haven't done - told your hubby. I too posted for the first time today, but I am not nearly so brave. U should be proud of yourself.

Hello LMB. I just read your thread from start to finish - it was like a soap opera! Was holding my breath when I read that you had emailed him....and got a big smile/tears in my eyes when I read the response :D

Really wanted to say how pleased I am for you. Really show him you mean business later when he comes home and please keep posting & reading the boards!

    <<<Massive hugs.>>>

PS This is only a ickle little bit of advice but you can try using the free SMS services online (i.e. https://www.excite.co.uk - or just type in "Free UK SMS" at Google) where you can have a certain amount of texts free every day. That way you can still send H a lovey dovey text daily..... ;)
