Actually, if the purpose of the statement was to gain a laugh rather than actually make the point that your wife charges for sex then it is generally accepted as a joke.
Can someone, please, for the love of god, start a debate on something that has intelligent, witty, thoughtful and insightful posts? Mrs Cleaver is out tonight, I'm in the mood to slob infront of the footie with my laptop and all I've managed to do is argue with a jobless, John McCririck-wannabe who is too simple to understand the concept of work and Chuck Norris who thinks I have the capability to assess his wife's sexual habits without even knowing who she is.
