Tuesday 7/4/09 What small dfw things have you done today???

:DWhen we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Today i will:
  • check online banking
  • update spreadsheets
  • send some money to savings
  • storecupboard lunch and tea
  • check and water all my plants and seedlings
  • repot some of bigger seedlings
  • lttle bit of hokey cokey
  • little bit of ironing
  • clean one room so no housework at weekend
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • aim for no spend day
  • swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
  • do something from my 101 in 1001 challenge list
  • recycle something
  • sparkle a lotconfetti2.gif
Good Morning lovely dfw'sjumping0044.gif Hi to all the regulars and welcome to any new posters:D Another no plans day at work today apart from trying ot a new contractor for maintenance work.DD off to stables for the day so thats her ot the way and OH going to bed as he's been on night turn.

Sending hugs to any poorly people, hope you feel better soon xxxx

    Morning all :j

Good luck to those who are jobhunting. I am under notice of redundancy myself (again  the joys of short term contracts, especially those where you need to give 3 months notice, which does not help in looking for other positions). Rotten luck Candy to have been passed over for a job you have been doing in favour of someone who the employers don't know but who 'interviews well'. I have had that happen to me before - it is odd isn't it how this amazing interviewee is always male

It can backfire on employers though - in my case, I continued to work for the organisation concerned for a while (they didn't want me to go, just didn't want to give me a permanent contract). The guy they took on was actually not very experienced, not that good at the job and I decided to find something else to avoid having to do half his work for him as well as my own. He then left a short while after I did. I tried hard not to gloat, but I am afraid I failed dismally

    Today I have / will:

    HM meals from stores
Washing to dry on line outside
    Check online banking (done)
Apply for new ISAs for the new tax year for myself and OH (done)
    See to animals
Do lots of work to try to free up time to take (long overdue ) holiday next week.
Continue to work on application for new job, which is really difficult and is taking ages - heaven knows what the interview will be like, assuming I get one

Water seedlings in greenhouse and kitchen windowsills
Plant out little broad bean plants this evening after work
    Walk dogs for free exercise
    Try not to spend anything:D

Have a nice day everyone :hello:
  • Good monring everyone! (she says as it goes from sunshine to rain outside ).

    Today, I will/have done:

    Cash a cheque
    Free scratchcards - 10p and 25p respectively
Replenish food stocks for my desk at work
    Bring in HM for lunch
Visit Boots to see if I've won 1000 Advantage card points (and try really hard not to spend anything while I'm in there!)
No evening class tonight, so saved £2.05 on my train fare.
Walk home from the train station instead of getting the bus (assuming of course the weather improves)
Keep searching for a new job (I'm on a short-term contract due to expire in July)

Have a good day all! :j

RachelMK, I hadn't even thought of adding 'think about cake' to my to do list, Doesn't everybody do that all the time anyway?

In my case it ought to be 'not think about cake' though, as I am on a diet :D
