It's happened to me a few times. I normally fill out a form, leave something of value behind (generally my phone) and get money ASAP to pay.
I think it very unlikely they would call the police unless you just drove off.0 -
OP - Can I ask why you're asking?
I hope you're not intending doing this.
It just seems a strange question to me.0 -

Despite the signs, no-one in their right mind would go into the kiosk and announce they had no money to pay. You normally go into the kiosk with the intent to pay or to tell them that you've forgotten your purse or wallet.
If you had no intent to pay them then you would bilk them and drive off.The man without a signature.0 -
It's against the law to do so, so it is likely they would call the police.
Don't listen to this tosh. They aren't going to call the police. The police would get there and do them for wasting police time, I'm sure!
This used to happen to me quite a lot with my old job. I would drive a sales team around and our manager was a bit tight with the petrol money. Manyt imes we would almost run out and have to fill up and not pay (not a good thing to do but it was that or get stuck 100's of miles from home).
You simply explain what has happened to the cashier, they will have a little form you have to fill out (address etc... backed up with ID) and then they give you 24 hours to come back and pay, or to ring up and pay by card.
This is all petrol stations btw not just Tesco. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
That is really bizarre- I very almost filled up on the way to a friends house this morning, rather than the usual doing it as I was on my way home, as I was a few minutes early. I'd completely forgotten that I was going to thier place as I'd left my money/purse there! Close call...:eek:Only dead fish go with the flow...0

I used to be a Manager in one of Tesco's garages, although I now work in a different department.
The kiosk staff should have offered a Customer To Pay facility. This isn't as daunting as it sounds. It gives you 24 hours to return with payment. All they require is some proof of ID and home address and car details.
The paperwork is in triplicate and one copy should be given to the customer.
If payment is not made within 1 week the details are sent to head office where the collections department contact the Registered Keeper / contact details on form.
I'd be happy to any answer any other questions but not in open forum, a Private message would be ok0 -
I wonder why this thread is so specific in mentioning Tesco? Hmmmm0

If you ask someone to name a supermarket what would be the most frequent answer?
I don't think it's a case of Tesco bashing, for everyone that hates them there's another person who loves them.
This happens with all filling stations. What could happen if there wasn't this provision? A hosepipe and a bucket? Very few people do this intentionally. You can tell those that do just by the way they approach you in the kiosk.
Although I work for Tesco this is just my opinion and not offical Tesco policy.0 -
I forgot my wallet once when I filled up and I left my mobile and returned later. I just gave my reg no to them and I went back in 15 minutes when I got my wallet from home.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot
