Try a quality coax cable with gold-plated connectors, greatly improved my reception.A problem shared is a problem multiplied.0

Hi,
I live in the Southampton area & the Rowntree ariel has been changed, so it can handle more digital channels. You can't get C5 via analogue now here.
Since then I have lost numerous freeview channels - supposedly they are working on it ... so keep trying if that is the issue. Otherwise do a search for freeview reception, there is a official freeview website

Hope that helps.

On the Isle of Wight.
The channel five analogue transmitter used to be attached to the Chimney at Fawley power station, now shut down and channels re-arranged and they will get re-arranged again before analugue is gone for good. Most of the BBC channels are the ones on the Mux that is now at the frequency formerly occupied by analogue channel five.
You should find simply autoretuning the freeview box sorts this out.

I have read that some people with older aerails may still have problems as the Mux the BBC channels are on (MUX5) are at quite a high frequency that some older aerials cannot pick up very well. Need a new modern aerial if this is the case for you.
This issue has been giving me pain with my TV recording media server computer at home. Sorted now.0 -
In some areas, they're doing work on the transmitters which involves powering them down and doing whatever they need to do, then powering them back up again. While powered down, people will lose channels.
It happens quite a lot where I am, and in different areas. I'll quite often have a bunch of people ringingup from the same area saying TVs I sold them have died, only to find out that it's because the transmitter is currently switched off.
It'd be a good idea to look up your local transmitter and see if there's any work going on.0 -
Hi
Thanks for the spelling fix ....
We can get the BBC channels, but have lost all the ITV ones - no amount of retuning is fixing that ... looks like I need a new ariel!! It'll just have to wait.

I'm in the part of Devon where the digital switchover is taking place this month. Stage 1 was this week, and my reception has deteriorated since the change. I have booked an engineer to come out and replace our 20 year old aerial and cable - he pointed out that some of the analogue signals have been switched to a reserve antenna, providing less coverage than the main antenna, so this could explain the degradation of our signal this week. Perhaps similar changes have also been made at other transmitters?0
