But 15% VAT is the same whether it's charged per account or per number. Your bill at Tesco is the same whether they charge you 15% VAT on each item in the basket, or on the total.
Yes, all providers charge VAT. The VAT threshold is £67,000 and I don't think even with the credit crunch you'll find any of them are turning over less than that.

What, that someone believes that not all companies charge VAT?

If you ask nicely and offer cash Vodaphone will do you an under the counter deal- don't say I told you.

How'd you mean? In a shop or over the telephone? Surely that won't work because it will all be centralised billing.

And publishing it on a public forum kind of ensures everyone knows about it! :rotfl:

I can see we're going to have to work on this humour thing. . .
  • I highly doubt that it will be an under the counter deal, it might be more along the lines of "we'll give you a discounted price" but I'm sure they're not into tax evasion. The consequences for them would be disastrous.

Just to be pedantic, but rounding errors can mean that there is quite a difference between VAT on each item and VAT on the total - the difference being as much as +/- 1/2p per item! I used to work for an electricity supplier and they tried to introduce VAT on individual items in order to maximise their profits - 1p or 2p per bill really adds up over the long run. As a software tester I pointed out this was an error in the software and got them to fix it ;)
