I can see a lot of despair here regarding people not wanting to do a bank transfer. I've ended up here after a quick google.

Have sold 100+ items over the past few years and relied on ebay/cash on collection. Always state what I want too. Sold an item last night and this evening received this email from the buyer.

'Hi please can I send payment via bank transfer as I do not wish to use paypal too often. Only on emergencies because i cannot exceed my monthly spending limit else i wont be able to use my account for the reaminder of the month.'

Not done it before so not comfortable, just seems a little odd. Rest of his email goes on to assure me that this is a good idea and that I'll speedily get my cash (£50). I'm tempted to demand the paypal. Am I being foolish?

Bank transfers aren't a problem - just wait 24 hours before you post the item after you get the money, to be sure it's not recalled.

With a sale of this amount I'd always look at the buyers feedback to see if all seems OK. Oh, and send it by recorded delivery or special delivery, at that price

I've looked at his feedback. I sold tickets to a gig that I can't go to. Buyer already has tickets for another night and has bought lots of tickets, 30-50 pairs in the last month for a broad range of gigs all over the country. Never sold anything. Feedback exemplary.

He is probably buying them cheap and selling them on, under a different ID, at higher prices.

    Any why wouldn't you?

I wondered that, but he paid full asking, which was a little over the top and didn't make an offer. Can't see that there is profit to be had, I was chuffed with £50, somewhat higher than what others are going for.

    Just guessing potential hassle.

My items always seem to be popular with Eastern Europe buyers. I have no idea why, it's just clothes, shoes and related items that I don't want/need anymore for various reasons. I once sold a load of bras that no longer fitted and I think every single one went to Poland! :rotfl:

So I'm just being over cautious, must get more cosmopolitan about my ebaying. Are postage costs much higher, it's for a pair of Heelys?
