Come on everyone, complain to watchdog & trading standards. Yes I managed to get a laptop myself, with loads of hassle & lies 2 weeks ago (over 3 hours of phone calls in total), but should we face being lied to & the phone being put down on us. This deal has been going on for almost 3 weeks & loads of people have complained to Dell, so the top people must know what's going on, & yet they're still allowing it to happen. They shouldn't get away with this, so come on everyone, go to
http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/
http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/complaints.shtml
& complain, I'll be dissapointed if this doesn't hit watchdog this week!!!Next year we'll be millionaires!0 -
These are numbers I used to contact Dell last year. I don't know if they'll still work. 01344 373196 and 0870 907 4000 which is the main dell number.0

As you have had 6 at £299 can you confirm if they came with the internal Wifi fitted and were they 802.11g?marlowtech wrote:See this thread... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1678936&highlight=inspiron+1300#post1678936
as you can see it went on for ages...
The trick here is to say that you have spoken to customer services, that there is a "cradle to grave" system in operation (actually use this expression), get the salesman's name, and explain that if he refuses to sell you the laptop, or if he hangs up on you (it happens) you will call customer services and give them your number, and from your telephone number they will track back to the salesman directly. This is absolutely true. They then get severely disciplined.
I've had 6 of these laptops at £299 now and they are exceptional value.
Order it!
Let us know how you get on...Seth.0 -

This ad has no mention of an internal wireless card fitted. There is no e-value code to refer to, so it is possible that this is a lower spec compared to the previous £299 advertised laptop.0 -

My mistake. It's an ExpressCard slot.

I'm sorry but this is NOT the same deal as the one from a few weeks ago. There is no e-value code and it does not come wi-fi enabled. Dell has just produced a different spec machine at a different price, and all the complaining to Watchdog will not make a blind difference to the legal position. The previous deal expired over a week ago.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

Please look at 1jim's post (#41) where he says he has ordered one & it does in fact come with wireless. If you try to order an inspiron through their website it says that wreless is built in & there is an option for a different wireless adapter. I think that it is this upgrade that the dell customer services are trying to palm off to the phone customers, people who may not have any technical experience or access to a discussion forum like mse.
I don't know why your reply is so harsh, maybe you had a late night  . Dell's not going to produce a new machine every week to match a particular offer.desrever sthgir lla0
