I dont understand why you cant get a refund.Surely you could take them to the county court-all done by post.0

You are being too vague.
Do you have the box or anything else that describes the computer as having the card reader prefitted ?
If you do then send them an email asking how you get a refund but make sure you tell them exactly why and quote the documentation you are referring to (all leaflets etc should have a code on them) although it would be much easier to take the whole lot into a store and if you have the proof then you shopuld get a refund in minutes.
If you dont have any documentation to prove it should have a card reader then spend the voucher on an external one and smile.0 -
What is the model number?
Did you send all documentation by recorded delivery or just normal post? Did you send it to customer services or a store?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
there was a big sticker on the computer saying 5 in 1 card reader. the salesman said i could put in memory cards from digital cameras. a few weeks later when i wanted to upload photos i could not find the slot to put the memory card in. when a guy came out to install broadband and configure the computers he said there was no 5 in 1 reader. PC world have admitted the fault and offered £20 refund! further letters have been ignored. trading standards are involved and will be inviting pc world in for an interview. i want what i thought i was getting. i think i will write to compaq. i am also thinking of going into pc world now and face a confrontation, although i would rather it all be documented in writing.Just about to give up!0

Sorry but I dont get this at all..
An unqualified Cable installer told you that you dont have a 5 in 1 card reader.
PC World admitted the fault,, Have they seen the PC, have you taken it back.
They may have paid you twenty quid as a good will gesture as they may think
that you dont know what your on about as you may have said "well the cable guy told me"
See what I mean?
This isnt a dig at you, Im just trying to get my head around this.
Also the Cable guy shouldnt need to touch your PC during an install.
Unless its AOL then he inadvertently broke it anyway..0 -
Bigger issues here - I'd expect that a 'cable guy' or even layman would be able to tell me if it has a 5 in 1 slot for memory cards. It should be an obvious slot in the laptop - if it's not there then Compaq are at fault for the advertising on the sticker therefore PC World should issue a refund and take it up with Compaq.
However, being a previous employee (ia long time ago) of PC World, I can tell you it would be more productive to contact Compaq and ask for their help.Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0 -

Thats just so wrong on all levels...
I wouldnt ask a Tiler to rebuild my cars engine... !!!!!! does the Cable Guy Know.. Or a layman with no PC experience.. that makes no sense at all.
Can the cable guy tell my how many USB ports I have on my PC hidden under
the front cover, thats if he knows the cover is there....0 -
Oh yeah...
What Make and Model of PC is It

It's a slot on the laptop - now I'm guessing most installers will have seen dozens of laptops & desktops during their career!!
Could the OP take pictures to show us and/or tell us the model of the laptop?Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0
