All of my fittings are the spot light types, but we don't even have the main lights on - just 2 lamps in the evening and as it's a bungalow - it's only 1 floor that can ever be lit!
I had £36 brought foward from my last quarter and the breakdown was then £89 for electricity and £161 for gas (ouch!) . God knows what it would have been if I'd have given in and had the heating on more than I did! Even OH kept saying how mean I was not to have it on later in the evening.
I have just read a thread where someone this week has had an £870 bill for a 3 bed semi, so maybe I am cut right back to the bone and that's just the way it is these days.
It does sound like you're doing as much as you can. I'm a bit out of touch with energy prices as mine have been included in my rent for the last couple of years - thank goodness! Thermal undies for next winter?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Mum and Dad paid for me to have the loft insulated for Christmas so I'm hoping it will come down a bit. My boiler is ancient and is probably upping it a lot but can't do anything about that. They guy called it 'death defying' when he serviced it!
I wonder if this new cylinder will cut down on water heating costs?0 -
I do need to get my loft insulation sorted and my boiler is about 13 years old so neither probably help the situation. I had the walls cavity insulated around 3 years ago and that really made a difference. Perhaps try to aim to get the loft sorted by next winter as a priority.
Yep, thermal knick knocks for next January and February it seems :eek:
I think there are going to be a few shocked households around the country when the winter bills hit the mat if they haven't been careful this winter."Stay Wonky":D

M & D were going to pay for the walls too but when the firm came to do them they'd already been done. lol
The loft has really made a difference to the feel of the place - I'm forever turning off the heat now.
I do have an open fire too which I used a lot in the really cold weather and turned off the heating.0 -

i wonder how Spud got on at the doctors?
Did i read yesterday that Linda is doing Leeds 10k!!? - great stuff!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
I'd love an open fire. I think they are so cosy. I had one when I lived in Ireland for a year and it was a pain because it was linked to a back boiler and so I had to light the fire to heat the radiators etc.
Bookie - you are NOT stupid - you must change your siggy!"Stay Wonky":D

I'd much rather sit round my fire than have the heating on. Have to warm the rest of the place somtimes though. In the house before the chimney breast went through my bedroom so took the chill off there too.0
