Not in the slightest. You are doing them a favour by teaching them that falling out of trees not only hurts, but also how to sneak back into the house because if your mother catches you falling out of a tree, she'll kill you...

Thanks hun. I'm actually the kind of mum that encourages her kids to get dirty and climb trees, so no need for sneaking in.

As predicted, they came home hungry, soaking wet and filthy. They've been exploring apparently, with loads of friends out making dens, climbing trees and generally being kids.

Sounds just like the stuff I used to get up to :D

My kids were always the filthiest in the street...grubby little urchins....

Is anyone old enough to remember the summer of 76....long hot summer, spent mooching around the local park (in the days you could walk round without fear of getting mugged or suchlike) flirting with boys and listening to the charts on our little transistor radio....then I always had to turn my watch back half an hour and go 'but mum, my watch says 8.30pm.......can't believe I thought she would fall for that....

Thats how I hope DD is when she is a bit older. God I used to love the holidays when I was a child. We lived in the middle of no-where and had free roam of the woods, farmland and god we used to get up to so much it was great
