  • Hi, I found this thread when I was looking up the phone number 0870-1258809.
I wanted to reply to this posts to share my experiences with 1&1 and Arvato.
When I saw what was written in this forum, I realised they are contacting me about an account I closed with 1&1, that was automatically billed prior to closure.

This seems to be a similar experience to what has beed described here.
    Dear xxx xxxx,

We have attempted to contact you prior to this email to discuss a matter of mutual importance.

Could you please call us on 0870-1258809 quoting your reference number XYXYXYXY or alternatively, reply to this email acknowledging its receipt and provide us with a contact number so we may speak with you directly.

    Yours faithfully,

    The Collections Team
    Finance Services.

I will reply to 1&1 and Arvato with the advice you provided, and will update my status.
It is unfortunate that even 18 months down the line nothing has changed in their behaviour.
  • I have written to the debt collector and 1&1 in Slough after speaking to idiots in the Phillipines and 2 in Philladelphia spoke to Craig in uk am going to claim approx £4 in postage re cancelling my account. They cannot take a verbal instruction. I will do the same to Arvato the German wallies.

Given that you will have paid via your card.

Contact your card provider. Give them the date you cancelled and the ywill be able to chargeback any debits after that date.

FSA ?? Nothing to do with them.....
Watchdog... Ah that toothless old consumer program. That features the same old retailer year after year.....
Does that not tell people something.

Yep same here, got a couple of emails and then a letter yesterday. Owe £12 for a domain, I removed my paypal details way over a year ago and now this.

I have much more important things to do with my time!!!
  • I had several domains with 1&1 and decided to leave them after a couple of years due to their service being unreliable. I went through there cancellation processes correctly, everything was closed down, then I get this agency chasing me for £90+.

I don't understand why 1&1 have a cancellation process to follow then have the cheek to then still chase for subscriptions which have been cancelled correctly.

I seriously think they need to look at their own processes before charging for subscriptions which are cancelled.

Also the reason why I left is because of several outages, if they are not supplying the services does that not make the contract void?

I have told the collections agency to take up the so called outstanding debt with 1&1.

As a web developer I will not be using this company for their services ever again!

    Thank you,
  • just received a phone message satying I had to call Arvato - rude rude rude people - bullying tactics and aggressive.

I told them I'd cancelled and the email address they were trying to send stuff through is no longer valid

Told them I will not pay a penny
  • I had a similar problem with One.com / Bix. In the middle of the 2 year hosting period I paid for (Feb 2014 -Mar 2016) I received an email from a debt collection agency!

I remember cancelling the auto- renewal back in 2014. They denied that it was possible to opt out of this (which I believe is a lie). I argued with them online in a chat box, see attached. They then capitulated and I cancelled the subscription. I still have a year to go and they were chasing me for a service that I haven't paid for that could not even start until MARCH 2016!!!

    Outrageous practise.

That's the reason I don't like to do business with 1and1 they treat customers like criminals.
