How to whiten/brighten my old shirt?

Anyone got an tips of getting a white shirt, extra white and bright? Its about 3-4 years old (although probably worn less than 20 times) and its clean and mark free, but just doesn't look as bright white as a new shirt would. I need a white shirt for a wedding next week and have considered buying a new one, but if I can get this one bright and fresh looking then of course I won't need to waste the money! :D

The link below will give you some ideas to work with. And I believe napisan is quite effective too if it's not mentioned there.

Primark sell white shirts for £3.00. I am just thinking that maybe after you have bought the napisan and the electricity for washing etc, it could be cheaper to buy a new shirt if it really really needs to be sparkling white :)

  • I put dull whites in with the swimming stuff & it gives it seems to give it a little burst of chlorine but not enough to completely kill it off ! or I might be imagining it I suppose. Failing that it is the Matalan sale this week :T

All of DH's shirts seemed to be turning an off white colour but I cured this by accident when I stuck them in on a hot wash completely missing a blue sock that had got left in the machine, they all came out gleaming with that bluey whiteness that new shirts seem to have.
